The car is listed on Hemmings in CT. Here is the link

https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds...o/1953498.html

It's a sharp 1le car.

Something smells like fish here.....

Hemmings lists the car in Connecticut, Proxibid lists it in Charlotte, NC. Found out from somebody else the seller is looking for $65,000 for the car too.

Re: ALERT !! 1990 IROC 5-SPD 1LE 1300 MILES

Looks great!

No A/C, UL5 Radio Delete, 1LE, still wearing its original Gatorbacks, even ordered with DX3 Stripe Delete.

RPO 1AZ: Customer Ordered. So this is, or was, "somebody's baby." And that person has kept in as "Showroom Condition" as anyone is likely to find nowadays.

A lot of people have multiple residences, so no reason this car can't wear tags from one state, yet "reside" in another. And since it's probably being sold by its original owner(or possibly by the owner's estate), then there's a very good possibility that the owner had "retired" to Florida.

Tell me where you sourced that information - or is that pure speculation?

Re: ALERT !! 1990 IROC 5-SPD 1LE 1300 MILES

Deduction, profiling and speculation, hence, the use of the words probably and possibly. I have not run its VIN, so I have no idea how many people, if any others, have owned this car during its 27-year existence.

It's registered in Florida, yet being listed from Connecticut. So it's possible, even plausible, that its owner has multiple residences, possibly due to being retired. FL is, after all, considered a "retirement" state. It's common for people in CA to have cars registered in NV.

The car was ordered specifically for its original buyer, so that customer new exactly what he wanted and wasn't willing to settle for a car off of the dealer's lot. To him, the car was something special at that time, and three decades later, it would still seem to be. I, myself, have personally-spec'd all three of my 3rdgens and had them ordered for me, so I can relate directly to this point. I sold my 1982 Z28 to order my 1983 Z28 HO, which was eventually stolen, or I would probably still own it; then I ordered my 1987 Formula, and I have never realistically considered selling it.

This IROC is 27 years old. Odds-are that it was not special-ordered by a teenager, or it would probably be hacked, trashed or even junked by now, with 200K-300K miles on it, rather than currently being in showroom condition with 1,378 miles. So its owner might be in-or-nearing retirement years(the possible connection to Florida), and/or maybe something tragic has occurred. I hate to think tragedy, but people here are scoffing at its high asking price, so if that is, in fact, unrealistic, despite its rarity, then there's a good chance the car is being sold by a trust/estate/family. When families get involved in selling property that, all their lives, they've been led to believe is rare, collectible and valuable, then they naively overprice it and feel insulted when people offer less. Think Pawn Stars. So if this car has been on-and-off the market in recent years, as was believed to be the case in the other thread about this same car, then that could be why it's continually on the market.

Regarding its dented LTRs, leading some people to think that work has been done on the car, quality control on 3rdgens was weak. In fact, through threads here on TGO specifically about dented runners, we've learned that it was not unusual for runners to come dented from the factory. I wish all of my 3rdgens had been perfect upon arrival, but they haven't been. Most traumatic for me was my 1983 Z28 HO. Man, I freaked out when it arrived with a dent in the driver's door! Unfortunately, it was a blemish in the sheet metal, and the factory used it anyway.

These cars were never perfect, not even when new. But the car in this ad does seem to be about as perfect, today, as it was when it was on the showroom floor. Whether or not its asking-price coincides with its market value, that's not for me to decide, as I'm not in the market for it.

You've constructed a scenario here that although possible is highly unlikely. To believe in it is fanciful at best.

I own three 1LE cars, all three of which were special ordered uniquely by their original owners, none of which still have them. My 87 IROC was special ordered by myself at the age of 24, used up and sold 2 years later only to be re-found & purchased back a little over 2 years ago. That story, although possible, fanciful & highly unlikely is in fact true.
