2002 8.5 inch 10 bolt into an 87' trans am gta ?
hi so i got a 87 gta and i wanted to change the stock rear end out for something else. I found a 2002 8.5 inch 10 bolt out of a silverado. would this fit without needing to change to much?
ive never swapped a rear end before so i have no idea if it would work or not.
thanks

well im gonna be dropping in an LT1 and a T56 trans into the Trans am and the LT1 is built to like 410 rwhp so i was thinking of getting a different rear end.
also couldnt i just shorten the rear end from the silverado?

If you just want another rear though, there's aftermarket 12-bolts and 9"s made that WILL fit.

If you have a lot of fabrication skills you can make the rear end work, but it's far from easy. If you want something to bolt in then get an after market 12 bolt or 9 inch from someone like Moser Engineering, Strange Engineering or Mark Williams. Quick Performance might also make a bolt in 9 inch for your car. QP is usually a little cheaper than the others.
