Much of this depends upon the cam. Too much or too little AE can also cause hills/valleys at lower RPM.
In general it should be smooth.

What does the acronym AE mean?
Also I have a very mild cam.
Can I drag points on the graph to add/subtract fuel so I don't have to do a VE learn?

Acceleration enrichment. It is extra fuel added as the throttle is opened to make up for fuel dropping out of suspension.
Yes, you can do that.

Would u elaborate on how u would go about tuning the AE to smooth out the VE tables? My VE can look like the Rockies, but BLMs range within 125-132.
Not sure how much the porting, more aggressive cams, and DOHC architecture influences this, but looking at stock calibrations, the tables are not as choppy.
Again, the car runs, idles great. No hesitation at all w smooth power delivery through the rpm range. Pulls like a freight train up to 7000rpm.

So I found this little nugget investigating tuning of AE. Turns out the LT5 ALSO has a Option Word to turn on INT RESET.

Could this be contributing to the peaks and valleys I see in the VE table, understanding that more aggressive cams also play a role?

When final tuning AE I like to watch the INTegrator. If it drops then too much AE. This can also lead to a lean sag as the AE runs out.
Don't worry if AE has to be 'hidden' in the VE table. This is common. At low RPM and higher loads having the VE higher adds AE. The trick is that at those loads the engine/vehicle won't be in that area for long.
So the elevated VE acts like AE.

I found the INT RESET flag in the calibration. Hope to try that out tomorrow.

I made no other changes other than to set the Option Word for the INT RESET.
Although the car always felt very strong, I could feel the difference almost immediately. As they say, sometimes you don't know the difference until u feel or hear it. Well, I never thought the car was hesitating before, but now the acceleration does not let up. IOW, previously at tip in, it felt as if it was starting over again w each gear change. Now the acceleration seems to just continue with no noticeable let up. The acceleration rate keeps going higher.
Is my sense the same as what some others have experienced?
