86 trans am tpi vs 97 mustang with police interceptor v8 swap
So I ran into a guy today in is nice blue Mustang you was playing with me on the street. At this time I did not do anything, When it became clear I dropped it down into 2nd gear from 40 miles an . Just to Grunt a little bit and flex the tpi torque. I then followed him to a gas station where I puuled over with him to talk. Told me his Mustang was a V6 and he pulled out a interceptors engine out of a Crown Vic though the heads on not sure on the type of heads, Cam shaft among or other basic mods exhaust and Ignition and 4.10 gears, he said he just got done weighing it today and it weighed 3000 pounds, I weigh-in at 3200 pounds.
So he said he would like to run me and I was like yep OK why not I have A 305. I have done some mods to my car a racing transmission and borla exhaust AS&M runners ported and polished up or intake, tune. So we were off I will post the videos he'd ended up putting up on a go pro and he caught it it is funny on the role race that we did that it the wind moved it just at the perfect timing I thought it was kind of funny. Go ahead and enjoy please leave comments.

We did one race from a dig and one from a roll... the go pro was on the mustang.

Not bad. I pretty much abandoned dig racing entirely, I only roll race nowadays myself, so that roll race of yours kind of bothered me a tad. Those runners will only take you so far up top, what are your cam specs...

Not surprised you pulled on him. We use to buy those police crown vics at auctions for about $200 and just thrash them. They were slow.

its the stock peanut cam.
his is s XE cam I forgot the part number I can get it... heads are the stock ones that came with the engine. he also has 60,000 miles and im hitting 150,000 on my 305.

why did the roll race bother you? I have plenty of room to grow, remember im still running the peanut cam his cam is aftermarket comp. the runners helped she does pull better up top,,, I also have a fueling issue. on the roll race I was running 10.6 afr so I still have room to grow there in the tune as well. I have new injectors to put in with a tune for them as well from john wayne. my injectors are leaking a little there the stockers so im hoping that will help as well.
I destroyed him from the dig lol.

Having owned a CVPI, I can say that speed was not a virtue. Sure, it was quick, but not f-body quick - unless your car is a real dog.
Mine was a 2007 w 250 hp, mostly due to revised airbox/inlet, etc. hp remained unchanged through the end of production in 2011.
Not really special other than dual exhaust and lack of engine manifold covering. No hood blanket, either. It was a cop car, with a bit of crudeness.

he swapped it in a mid to late 95+ model 5 spd mustang which I assume is a ton lighter, he weighed it earlier in the day and it weighed in at 3000lbs, last time I weighed my car was 3200 lbs. and not sure how much extra the cam gives him. the heads are the stock interceptor heads but I really don't know much on ford engines so.

There is an approximate weight difference of 350 lbs between a 1997 v8 mustang and a CVPI. Not quite a ton...

Good job. I destroyed about a 94-95 Mustang GT auto around Christmas in my 2005 GMC short wheel base stepside 5.3L truck. He was so surprised. I wasn't.

it wasn't a crown vic... it was the engine of one in a 97 mustang... 2 completely different cars.

97 crown vic weighed 3800lbs and the 2007 crown vic weighed 4100 lbs
the gearing of the crown vics vary from 3.27 to 3.55
97 mustang gt stock weighs 3200-3400lbs (the one that was in the video was gutted and he had a weight ticket that showed 3050 lbs from a cat scale. just weighed it that night. he also had 4.10 gears with a 5 speed.)
so yes 2 different cars, weights, gears. . mustang would be faster and its modded.

Yea.. Well it's been tuned and came with 342s and limited slip differential. Its outran my car, Dodge trucks, its pretty strong but a diesel Chevy hurt my feelings.

Must be picking on V6 or 4.7 Rams. I can say that even stock my 2006 Hemi quad cab was never outrun by a stockish 5.3. When the cam, converter and gears went into it, I played with the Saab version of the TBSS with a cammed 6.0L and he could not pull an inch on that truck. Never had a stock cammed 5.3 catch either of my Titans either.

I duno wat the Dodges had except they were V8s. I agree the Titans are faster I have had one it outran everything but the gas station.
