On the blue Formula [formula1lle (member)],
I cannot find hide nor hair of this person or their profile here on TGO. The only reason I did not simply omit their nomination is because the nominating member, 88IROCvertZ, provided so much information about the car with his nomination that I assume he has access to at least a posting by the owner of this '91 1LE Formula.
Therefore, if 88IROCvertZ, or anyone else for that matter, can provide me with a link to this person's profile, any posting, or confirm that they have passed along to formula1lle (member) the following:
I will be able to rest easy that we don't vote in a COTM Winner where there will be absolutely no payoff or resolution.
Dave.

Congratulations!
Your car has been nominated for TGO's May 2018 Car of the month (COTM).
The **Voting Thread** is up and running in the Auto Detailing and Appearance forum. The Voting Thread is the place to state your case to be the COTM Winner by posting several good pics of your car (exterior, interior, engine, etc.) as well as technical & historical data about your Third Gen. You will be competing against four (4) other TGO members this month. The sooner the better on posting pics and info, thus making your case in the Voting Thread, as typically, much of the voting is done within the first few days. The voting poll will close on 4/30.
As a TGO Member, you get to vote in the contest and you CAN vote for your own car.
Good luck to you in the voting, and congratulations on being nominated.

Thanks fellas, I'm honored. I've put thousands of hours into my car. Almost three years in the making. Painted her myself in my garage 2010 Camaro Rally Yellow.. 3 coats color, 3 coats clear, cut & buffed. Six hours per wheel restoring sanding and polishing them. Love the stock wheels and wanted to keep them. All new carpet, door panels, and headliner. Steering wheel, shifter knon, and Ebrake handle recovered in leather with yellow baseball stitching by Craft Customs. Engine is stock 305 TPI. Engine compartment is my next goal within the next year or two.

Thank you so much for the nomination!
I did notice the picture included of my car is with the old wheels (granted I just put the new wheels on this past week so its pretty fresh) but I didn't know if that picture should be changed to reflect the way the car looks now?
Since the new wheels are here to stay, that might be worth looking into? Anyways all pictures of the car in this post were taken today. Enjoy!
My car is an '87 Trans Am GTA that I purchased totaled for $500 around 8 years ago. If you are interested in more of the history of the car I talk about that in my build thread here on this site. Here is the link.
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/auto...ns-am-gta.html
There is so much done to this car its hard for me to remember it all but I will try to list as much as possible. I am extremely excited for this year because I finally have it finished after doing some more work to it the last couple years.

Your car looks so mean. I am usually not a fan of “new” style wheels on third gens but those look killer. Totally helps with the agressive look of your car. Great work.

Thank you! I was honestly somewhat nervous to change wheel styles, I knew what I envisioned in my head, but I wasn't sure if these wheels would make my car look the way I was hoping, but they did exactly what I was wanting. I really am happy with how they look.

The photo with the old wheels is fine, unless you want it changed.
Those new wheels look sharp.

Okay cool, yeah I just thought it might be nice to have the picture match the way the car looks now. I definitely don't want to be a pain so don't feel like you have to change it if you don't think it's a big deal. Thanks!

Re: May 2018 COTM **Voting Thread**
Wow I'm really honored to be a part of this! I think it is a little premature though. I just got the car over the winter and haven't had much time to get it where I want it. I don't even have any outside pictures of it yet. I have lots of little plans for the future.
Specs:
1991 Z28
5.7 automatic with 3.23 gears
104k miles
zero rust even though the car has been in Indiana its whole life!
SLP TPI runners
SouthBay injectors
Accel ignition
Jet chip
K&N filters
shift kit
smoothed and painted Summit window louvers
GTS blackouts
old school Pioneer 1.5 din radio
17x9.5 reproduction Firehawk rims
285/40/17 Nittos
Basically lots of little bolt-ons and nothing too crazy.
Plans for the future: Some of these parts I already even have ready to go on.
#1 goal is for this car to get a T56!
#2 is springs/shocks and all the normal suspension mods.
I have the factory original CD player but it is dead. I'm sending it off to be rebuilt
Looking for OEM window louvers to replace the cheap ones on it now
The plan is to keep this car fairly original and mostly period correct.

Blunierdr didn't mention that he also went the extra step and did some work on the engine bay while painting. Looks like some smoothed strut caps, anything else? I'm a sucker for smooth engine bays, if you couldn't tell from my build.

Wow thanks for the shout out Tibo, I can't believe I forgot to mention that! Yeah I spent an enormous amount of time welding and smoothing the strut towers and completely redoing and rewiring the engine compartment. That is one of the most satisfying projects I've done to this car, and now that I'm driving it I already am taking it for granted. Go figure.

I guess formula1lle is off the grid.. he posted up in the “Original Low Mile Reference Car” post and I was interested in the car..
I sent a PM and no response. Oh well..
Now what to do with my vote.. very good month and I would have nominated any of these cars.. a couple I was thinking about but was beat to it!
Hmmmm..

These are all nice cars for sure & congrats to all the nominees. However, I am amazed (and disappointed) we dont have a one in this group
that is an untouched (unrestored, unmodified) low mile original - I know there are a bunch on this forum, just not sure why they dont make the COTM ??
Maybe we should re-evaluate the nomination process ?? Like I said, all nice cars and congrats again to each nominee !!

The nominees come from people on this site, including y'all. Go find a nice stock car and nominate it. It's really just that simple. Everyone has to do the work to make COTM good (it's your job too!).

IE he's a good member /I used to have a car like that/I like blue cars /it had in interesting back story/were friends /i like Firebirds better and there's only one so I voted for it, and the list goes on. So I am now in favor of these monthly categories to help reign in these absurdity of the way some people vote if left to their own devices.

Re: May 2018 COTM **Voting Thread**
Tibo, you disrespected cehbra when you lost this month. And now you come in with self-gratifying solutions to your situation. Sorry, I just can't give much sympathy at the moment. You played it straight, didn't try to cheat, didn't try to manipulate the process... you simply have a **** poor attitude. Maybe you'll get another run at in the near future.
Regarding Orr89RocZ August 2017 COTM win, may I remind you of your own words from that COTM contest….
--------------
And vinny, you get an ‘D+’ for lack of awareness. I nominated Orr89RocZ and he won because it was the right car at the right moment. Frankly, a lot of my nominations end up winning. 2017 COTM was dominated by badass bruisers. Voters aren't in the same mood this year. Is that good or bad? -- it's neither, it's just the way it is.
So here's the big picture: About 2 years ago, Linson made a call out to revitalize COTM by bringing in the folks that don’t care about (or maybe care for) the Show ‘n Shine crowd. Almost immediately, a very nice gentleman did just that and found me and nominated me and I won. So then I turned around and did the same for quite a few other people, including Orr89RocZ. I bring in the badass cars, the outcasts, the freakin’ sweet rides that usually don't get attention. These are my peeps. I nominate them; vote for them; coach them (some of them need it); and sometimes gather up interest around the forum, in plain sight, for other people to join in the COTM voting process. I do exactly what Linson ASKED US ALL TO DO two years ago and try to generate more interest around the forum. All I can say is, Get with the program, man!

I too have a wrong to make right from one of the 2017 COTM competitions where I may have sabotaged somebody's chance with my loud mouth. I'm going to take care of it in January with my nomination.

There was a time I would have agreed but I have come to realize there are mostly just bad losers. It's easier to see now that I have become disconnected from the competition and just an observer.

sometimes it it is just timing.. all the cars that get nominated are worthy and sometimes it’s just that group at that time.. don’t take it personally..
Whenever I lost (and it was a lot) I understood why. Winning isn’t the point. This place is pretty fair and at some point you might get another go at it if the timing wasn’t right for you. If you’re deciding between two equal cars and one guy is a nice guy, a friend, etc. they might get the vote. You have to come to some solution as a voter to break ties. Some people like IROCs better, some Firebirds.. so what.. it’s all part of it.. Some vote for the fastest car.. so what.. You can’t make anyone here vote one way or another. If you’re up against a really popular member that everyone wants to win can you really say their car doesn’t deserve to win in some way? No one is losing COTM to piece of junk unfinished cars.
You guys should see how unfair showing horses is.
I think its been good to have the open contests and it seems to be a good mix of winners. I wouldn’t want all low mile stock cars to win.. that would be boring. If this contest was opened up to be more inclusive, that should be a good thing, but I understand how someone might feel slighted when their thousands of hours of work was passed up by someone who bought a turnkey low mile car or something of the sort. There are mismatched contests. So what..
Be a good sport and if your car is all that you believe, you might get nominated again down the road. Don’t deny your car the chance by being a bad sport about it.. there’s always another month..
The best thing you can do is nominate someone you think deserves to win..
I was a little bummed when I lost to Topspeed in that tie, but understood why he deserved to win and he seems like good guy too.. the first thing I did was nominate someone I felt deserved to win the next month and they won.. All was right with the world.
I still haven’t voted this month.. tough decision!

Just to interject....who could have guessed that a site upgrade would resurrect this particular thread as the place to have this particular conversation?

I have voted for and nominated both originals and mods, I hope Dave does not change this because of a few whiners, I like this much better than categories. And I hope you do make your words right Qwik and depending on the car I may just vote for your nominee!

See, we're in violent agreement after all. Good!
Vinny, new members can't vote. JT explained that 2 months ago during the other 'incident'
88vert, well said. Your car is GORGEOUS and you're right that winning or losing doesn't change that.

You know everything I've typed is correct but you won't admit it. Try going to a car show and staying to see who wins the categories, it's a car that has had a significant amount of work done to it. Pick up a magazine and look what's featured- it'll be a modified car. But hey, you go ahead, keep being disingenuous towards me and arguing that there's nothing out of the ordinary with how people are voting.

Re: May 2018 COTM **Voting Thread**
I think Abubaca said it best and warned us all this was coming:
“I do have to say to Tibo though... I am blown away. I regularly tow the DIY line in front of a growing generation of modern muscle kids who think hot rodding is dropping your brand new Camaro SS off at the local speed shop for headers and a tune, then bragging on "The Gram" about how fast their car is. The big three are reviving muscle cars and killing hot rodding all at the same time. That's another rant for another day. My car is pretty custom (even the parts that look stock) but the level of work I've put it in pales in comparison to yours. A COMPLETE build. That's the holy grail in my book. You could've put it HALF the effort, and still would've done more than most ever will. Well done sir. Well done. If you win, it'll be easy to see why. The other side of custom though, is that if you do NOT win, it'll be easy to see why, lol. Such is custom work.”
Being around COTM a while it’s nice that it’s not always the car that is worth the most money or the car that is the most over the top, expensive custom job that wins.. It’s nice that way.. It’s better than a car show where only six figure cars win and it’s the same people every time. There’s a guy up here with a concourse Shelby GT500 that wins every car show. Car is worth $400k.. I’m glad COTM isn’t like that.
It doesn’t matter how much work you did, how rare your car is, how much it’s worth, or how many trophies you win at actual shows.. Third gen enthusiasts sometimes vote for what they’d personally want in their garage but will sometimes vote for an over the top build that blows them away.
Some people don’t like convertibles. Some people don’t like custom built third gens, some look down on people that go out and buy a low mile turnkey car, some people are moved by a story of someone that went to great lengths to find a one of a kind car that was near impossible to find.. That doesn’t mean your car is beneath theirs.
I voted for Tibo, but I could see what Abubaca was saying.. Your custom build might not be for everyone. You did it your way and you did it for yourself. It’s easier with a more factory original car because those were made to be accepted by the masses. Who wouldn’t want to go back in time and buy one of these off the showroom floor. A custom build for everyone is an oxymoron so to expect to win a popularity contest is just setting yourself up for potential disappointment. Its also more more personal when it’s your work.
I thought you pulled a lot of votes for having a pretty ballsy modified Thirdgen. You got rid of a lot of things that purists would have a hard time dealing with, but you can’t deny it’s done extremely well.
I could see where some of the custom/modified guys might want their own category now and again. I lost to some monster cars, popular members, custom frame up saves from the grave.. I think it was fair too. Maybe I could go out and win trophies and sell my car for more money, but that’s not what these contests are about. The low mile “shine and show” cars don’t always win either. Some consider my 305 a better boat anchor than a motor too which I didn’t think helped me.. ha ha
Your car is incredible, but it’s not for everyone..

I understand exactly why Tibo was aggrevated, hell everyone gets that way sometimes. A lil remark about a tail light and dash swap didn't hurt anybody but one person's feelings and I doubt it was Cehbra. I also got aggravated with COTM when I saw 13 consecutive votes go another direction in the Last day of voting in Sept. I said some things maybe I shouldn't have. I also apologized for it. I didn't need someone slapping my hand publicly for it and neither does Tibo. We all men here right?

Re: May 2018 COTM **Voting Thread**
I don't remember doing much this year with COTM except nominate a couple people, do some reminders about who has already been nominated recently for the sake of variety, and calling out 2 bad losers. I don't remember who the other bad loser was.... do you? Nope, I don't remember because they took care of the matter themselves and that's okay with me.

Re: May 2018 COTM **Voting Thread**
No Thank-you. Like my Camaro, I made a sincere effort with November COTM. I posted many high-quality pictures that were not the typical front, side and interior shots. I went out and took extra pictures during the daytime. I used picturesque locations. I posted the abridged story of the car, I showed progress pictures and wrote about what I had done to the car. As you would whole-heartily agree it didn't turn out the way I had hoped for but I made a good effort and am now done with it, that is why I am not participating in the December Runner's up thread. I'm not interested in re-writing and re-posting and re-linking all the content.
