Blower motor slow

My a/c works nicely and eventually cools down the car but it never gets all the way cooled down. The air comes out cold but even on high it just doesn't seem to be coming out fast enough. What should I look to, to fix this?

Clean the evaporator coil

Make sure the connector in the big red wire that brings battery to the high speed relay isn't fornicated

Is there a resistor pack somewhere? It goes about what would be the second to highesr speed on high.

Re: Blower motor slow

Yes.

It is only in the circuit on the 3 lower speeds; completely bypassed on high; taken totally out of the circuit.

Not the resistor pack.

Thanks I needed the visual! Does the relay by mine have a role in this? I'll try to upload the pic

Mine is not as in your face with the big red wire as yours. I take it my red wire is going into this relay then? If the wire looks good then maybe relay?

Re: Blower motor slow

Yes, I had to change that relay when my High did not work. My wiring was fine...relay was bad. Check this pic out.

Re: Blower motor slow

i see the relay there and that when the relay circuit closes it should bypass the blower motor resistor and go at full 12v. So...ok if it doesn't close it's going to stay in "3rd gear" and not bypass the resistor. Am i reading this schem right? Without the relay gate closing it's nearest path of least resistance is 3rd position on that resistor block. Or it would just be an open because the speed control leg is on High but the gate isn't closing so it would not power the fan if the relay was not connecting. I'm thinking and typing here...
Looking at the schematic, to me, it looks like if that relay doesn't charge up and close the switch it will just be an open circuit and the fan won't come on. Mine is running at about M2 speed. So, maybe it is getting power but my blower motor itself just sucks?

The motor may be tired after 100s of 1000s of revolutions over 25+ years. I noted an improvement after I replaced.

Re: Blower motor slow

It was changed about 8-9 years ago but it was winter at the time and I hadn't had it long enough to notice. It's always been slow, a lady who I know drives a third gen stuck her hand in front of my vent and said hers blew harder than mine was too.

Re: Blower motor slow

I'm going to test to see if I'm getting my whole 12v and if I am I'm yanking the blower motor again.

Re: Blower motor slow

also check that the blower motor is correct for a 3G and is rotating the right way-blower motor in my '98 k1500 is nearly identical to a 3G motor but rotates the other direction.Squirrel cage blowers blow from inside the cage out either direction, but blow poorly turning the "wrong"way.

That's interesting, thank you for that information.

This Info Is Kind Of Squirrelly

Some sellers will provide new motors with the wrong squirrel cage.

The Non-A/C cars came with shorter cages.

They will fit, but not provide as much air as the correct ones.

Happy Racing !
