There's a 2,200 mile 85 IROC on there right now, too. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?m...2F232843414784

Looks good.. One weird part of the ad is where he says this car is “almost showroom mint”. But then says “if you want to see a car near mint condition check out the 87 convertible I have listed”

I didn’t see any mint 87 verts listed..

Re: 9K mile, '88 IROC-Z

That 85 is nice too.. one thing that’s not original on it is the steering wheel was definitely re-wrapped..

It’s strange.. I saw a 3000 mile IROC recently and expected it to be more mint than my 30,000 mile one, but it has some wear and signs of aging. I guess the guy said it spent the last few years outside because the owner’s widow pulled it out of the garage for some reason.. needed a repaint from sitting outside too.. hope he got a good deal.. steering wheel is all faded and even the seats look a little “dingey”.. definitely not mint.. wheels have clear coat wear, engine is a little dirty.. underneath looks about the same as mine..

Low miles is great but I’d rather have a car that got driven a little, stored inside, and maintained really well.. I was expecting a lot more from a 3000 mile car..

I’m surprised eBay doesn’t have more Hi-Res images of vehicles to zoom in on..

Same here. Mine has factory or dealer undercoating but its pretty mild (original owner ordered it). You can still see the color and it was pretty minimal. Pretty silly though considering the car barely ever got wet. Probably just checked every box when purchased.

Noticeable overspray from a bad undercoating job would bother me.

This car looks very clean.. Looks like there may be a rip/wear in the passenger interior door panel, but might be something else.. very clean otherwise

All the holes drilled into the rockers and doors to spray the rust proofing bothers me.

Well, I'd rather not have them than have them, especially on an '89 up which came with steel which was galvanized on both sides. With that said, if you were north of the Mason-Dixon line and east of the Rockies, the pressure was on from the dealer to get it rust proofed.

But that wouldn't dissuade me from buying that car, though.

I think the deal breaker for me is on that blue 85. I can live with rust proof holes in the rockers and doors. I could NOT live with the holes in the roof and rear deck lid for the damn rear wiper.

And here I thought you guys were talking about undercoating.. I see the holes.. that doesn’t bother me on this car.. It’s still factory showroom since that’s probably what the dealer would order for the showroom anyways.. door jams look fantastic..

It was a Euro inspired option, just like the Porsche 924 and 928.

And not an easy thing to eliminate since there's a hole in the roof for the squirter. Changing the deck lid isn't that big of deal....but the roof hole.....that's a bummer

If I got a car with a rear wiper, I'd leave it.

You’d have to.. that might be a deal breaker for me to be honest.. I’d wait for the next car to come along..

Ruins the profile of the car too..

Very nice but they checked off the wrong box for the engine choice.

Very much like the car I just sold, with identical miles. It'll be interesting to see what it goes for.

The '87 LG4 wasn't a bad motor. Willing, smooth and torquey. The thing that held it back was the 2.73 gear and 700R4 programed to get to OD ASAP.

Re: 9K mile, '88 IROC-Z

I don’t think it’s a bad motor.. If I was in the market to buy an IROC to collect and cruise with it just wouldn’t be my choice. I love the look of a Tuned Port Injection under the hood and the badges.. I have memories of being a kid walking around my first IROC looking at the “Tuned Port Injection” decals and badge and seeing the engine thinking how much cooler it was than my mom’s car (which looked more like the LG4 under the hood)

If it were a stick I’d think about it half a second..

I like the color, the convertible top and the condition

It’s already getting into the “more than I’d pay for it” range

I think this black one is slightly nicer than my recently sold '87. I'll be interested to see if it sells for more than mine.

Your 87 was a great color combo.. loved the dark red and gold..

I wonder what this one will go for as well. Saw one identical to this with a 5-speed and believe the guy was asking $30k.. not sure if it sold..

The black convertible is identical to my former one except for color combo. Even the miles. But the black one looks like a slightly nicer example. Nicer door panels, all factory paint, stored more carefully, etc.
