1987 IROC Z LB9 G92 $6,000 FIRM
Price drop to $6,000 FIRM! (IROC only)
Will respond to PMs or you can email me at kentdavies1988@gmail.com. I am located in Schiller Park, Illinois near O’Hare airport.
This 1987 IROC-Z with LB9 5.0 has 94,000 miles on the body. Yes it is the G92 package from 1987 with the 3.45 rear end. The engine block was replaced in the early 90s by the original owner. I do not know how many miles exactly are on the newer engine block. It was repainted at this time. It has a Crane cam, Edelbrock headers, and a Gale Banks exhaust system. I have minimal information on what the original owner did besides this. But the cool thing about this IROC is that, although it is not numbers matching original, it has “period correct” aftermarket upgrades. As you might know, Banks exhaust was all the rage back then. They only make diesel exhaust parts now from what I can see so you cannot find this exhaust system anywhere. I do not think you can find this old Edelbrock header setup anymore either. It has a great sound.
I am the third owner and have poured tons of heart and soul (and money) into this vehicle. The 2nd owner only had this car for about 3 years and just drove it around the north side of Chicago. He did not do anything special, only maintained it. I have owned this car since 2011 and bought it with 79,000 miles on it. As you can see, I haven’t driven it much, only about 2,500 miles a year or less since I have owned it. It never saw snow or salt.
Here are the upgrades from the time I have owned the car:
-RAM Powergrip HD clutch installed in 2012 at 80,000 miles. There is some chatter on takeoff as this is a very aggressive clutch. Minimize this by raising RPMs to appropriate level.
-New oxygen sensor at 83,000
-Brakes lines flushed/replaced, front end alignment at 83,500
-Replace air pump, sway bar links, remove catalytic converter, and install BMR bolt-in/weld sub-frame connectors at 85,000
-New plugs, wires, cap, rotor, coil and Holley adjustable fuel pressure regulator at 86,000 -Retrofit AC system. Air blows cold at 86,700
-Installed brand new Tremec TKO 600 transmission at 86,800 (trans has less than 8,000 miles on it)
-Installed new Walbro 255lph fuel pump at 86,800
-Replaced engine belts at 93,000
-New radiator at 93,600
-Installed Steeda Tri-ax shifter at 94,000-New front emblem and “Tuned Port Injection” emblem on the rear.
-Oil and other fluids changed regularly. I have some paperwork to go with the sale so you will have a record of other things like rear diff flush, coolant flush, etc…
The car runs and rives great. Starts on cue and shifts beautifully. This would be a perfect addition to your garage as a daily driver or a fun car on Sundays. The original radio was replaced by the 2nd owner for a CD player. It also accepts AUX cable for iPod or phone music.
Most importantly, this IROC is ready to accept a new motor and become your next street/strip race car project. It has the RAM powergrip HD clutch, the TKO600 transmission, the Steeda Tri-Ax short shifter, and the BMR subframe connectors to handle the power. It has the Walbro 255 liter per hour fuel pump to supply everything your engine asks for. As you can see a lot of the prep work is already done. It has a solid frame and beautiful paint/body to look good while doing so!

Re: 1987 IROC Z LB9 G92
bro this is exactly that..... i drove this thing to galena from chicago and to northwest Indiana many times. Wouldn't trust my LIFE on it but it's about as solid a vehicle as they come for 3rg gens. I'm buying lotto tickets right now and if I win I'm keeping it.

FYI people in the last 48 hours since the price drop I have had over 6 people text/call/email me about the IROC. First one to offer $6,000 gets it.
