32# Accel injector tuning

Hello my name is Aaron I have a 1987 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am GTA 5.7 TPI fresh rebuild. I'm switching to Accel 32# injectors 12volt high impedance P/N 150132. I'm needing the offset compensation values, & if all possible the short pulse width compensation data aka minimum PW, and excellent advice on what I should do in the VE tables? The modifications in & on my engine are hooker shorty headers, hooker Y pipe, no catalytic converters, exhaust flows pretty decent, bored .030 pistons very little change in compression, Resurfaced heads 10 thousandths of an inch, & block decked 10 thousandths of an inch as well I think it may be around 10:0:1 compression ratio now, other than that just a MSD blaster coil, 8.5 mm plug wires, and a cold air intake. I have installed the EBL Flash ECM and is converted to a MAP sensor, & I'm using Tuner Pro software. if anyone has any great advice, data, or info it would be greatly appreciated. Please let me know and thanks

I would call Accel if you didn't get the offsets with the injectors. That's the #1 criterion for buying injectors - no offsets? NO sale.

Yep... if those offsets aren't right you could very well be chasing your tail on trying to get BLM's and AFR's dialed in.

Re: 32# Accel injector tuning

I've found a few offsets sheets online, and in threads but not sure how correct they are, and could it be true 30#-whatever size would use the same offsets?

not in my experience. I've tuned several cars over the last few years since I took notice of the impact of injector offsets, and it needs to be right in order to get the best results.

Re: 32# Accel injector tuning

I found this while perusing Holleys website...

https://www.holley.com/products/fuel_systems/fuel_injection/injectors/parts/150832

look in the tech resources section to
toward the bottom to find the datasheet.

not exactly the same P/N, but if they use similar internal electronics, it may be close enough. note that the data sheet is for three different injector p/n's. I've done a couple of cars with Bosch-IIIs where I used a different Bosch-III offsets and it evident was close enough as I got them tuned adequately.

I found that as well and have been going off of that with the start of my tune, but the offset volt vs. MS. was only like 6v-16v shouldn't their be some pulse widths within 2 volts before and after those at least?

Re: 32# Accel injector tuning

you really shouldn't be running less than 13.5 to 14.5V during normal operation unless there's a malfunction or something.

10 to 12V during engine start up...

Okay so majority of the time the volts are within that range and only rarely drop or increase? Or like you said unless of malfunction.

Re: 32# Accel injector tuning

Yeah seriously, if u have a situation where voltage is < 12v, u shouldn’t or won’t be driving the car for long. I understand why GM does this, but for all practical purposes the 12-15v range is the most relevant for day to day operation.

Re: 32# Accel injector tuning

Yeah but when the starter is actually running, the voltage can be MUCH lower than 12. Like 8 or 9 possibly. So it does matter for startup purposes.

Good point GD. I should give that a quick check because of course the battery may not be at optimum charge either.
