Re: ID-This K-member

Does it really matter who made it? My PA Racing k-member only has a decal on it. Remove the decal and you would never know who made it.

I like the tie down strap/winch point loop on the bottom.

From what I see in the pictures, that whole setup should cost a few thousand dollars if bought new.

Re: ID-This K-member

sweet ..one stop shopping..with test fit of parts..your set!
its not UMI / BMR or sphone ..
if the struts are aluminum your in the 54lbs knocked off.. and with the rack..another 35lbs is gone..(steering box/pump/brackest.hose)
I say this..as this is what my parts tipped the scales at..
was able to knock off 248lbs from the front of the car.. and move 40 to the rear.. for almost 290 off the front end..

Re: ID-This K-member

Wow 248 lbs difference that is insanely cool.
the struts koni adjustable ultra lightweight, brakes are willwood four piston pads like new.
I paid $1400 for everything only issue..
there is no engine mounts only a torque rod on right side ..
I guess I will have to go to some kind engine plate setup . Not going to do that in a one bay townhouse garage with a 110 mig welder.
Not sure how to setup engine mounts with this K-member. Going to need help on that one .

the stock components don't weight 248lbs....no way to have 248lbs weight savings, lol.

Let me clear this Up.there is more to it then just a K member and brakes... sorry if I overly Simplified parts removed.

Pounds removed..

Aluminum Block /aluminum billet oil pump/aluminum pan/all brackets and pulleys.elect w/pump 90lbs (from stock)that's right. 90lbs less then a small block!
aluminum struts/coil overs with wildwood 6 piston calipers
w/aluma star 2.0 wheels/tires 54lbs (from stock)
K Member 20lbs (from stock)
A arms 7lbs (from stock)
AC and every thing with it brackets/pump/condenser/lines steel pullys 31.5lbs removed
washer bottle/fuel vent/ and tubing parts w/out fluid 2lbs
wiper motor and all its parts 4lbs
battery 36lbs w/3.2lbs of copper cable and off switch moved to trunk off the front end.
mini starter 12lbs removed from stock
fiberglass hood with billet Hinges 20.5lbs (from stock)

its a bit more the 248lbs. but it did come off the front end matt.
there is other things like the air box/ filters glass head lights replaced with plastic head lights but all that stuff is under another 3lbs.

I have not put the eng on a scale. going only by what the makers Brodix tell me.. stock 350/5.7 cast iron block and heads.iron exhaust manifolds..
aluminum big block w/aluminum heads..billet aluminum oil pump sheet aluminum pan 90lbs less then the 5.7
duel cats removed. did not include that.. but whats a few more lbs anyway.. after all the headers made up for that...and without cutting the car up.. as its not a race car..its got to much chrome for that...(edit to add..and Power windows)

I will say that the Big LBS came off with the eng / Kmember and brakes..But not all of it..sorry for the Confusion.

Re: ID-This K-member

Called Brodix and asked them about my Block/head combo.. (89.4lbs) lighter then a cast iron sb with 400 mains.. so I could be off by 2lbs.. I forget if my block is a mid water block..(if it is) im off By 5lbs..as a low water block is 5lbs less..

now if go with a rack and get rid of the Boat Anchor steering box and linkage with it...well.. that's another story.

edit to add: still have a full interior with.power locks/windows. but I did do a custom made aluminum fuel tank to replace the stock tank..but its not a race car...(but Im about to cut holes for the headers)

Re: ID-This K-member

It almost looks like someone started with an aftermarket k-member and added extra supports. The welds for example on the middle of the cross bar looks different than the welds at the bolt cups.

Re: ID-This K-member

Thanks for all the input ..This is defiantly going to loose weight over the factory setup and give me some room for headers.and stuff. The only issue will-be how to fab engine mounts but hey it all part of the fun .. ( on a side note anyone want lightly used S-10 manual steering gear box setup and some Bear-claw 1le style front brakes and spindles )
