Anyone have photo of EPROM location?
I'm not finding an obvioius EPROM, just seeing a bunch of surface mount chips, I was assuming this chip had legs. maybe it doesn't, non the less, anyone have a photo they could share and point to its location?

If you have a memcal (tpi) the prom is soldered in.

Does the memcal plug into this giant connector that looks like some over sized old school printer port? Do you remove the memcal from this, and plug in the emulator in its place?

And then save a file I presume, that will then be loaded into the memcal, which now has an EEPROM in place if the EPROM if you take that step?

To use a emulator you need a piggyback adapter. This allows the memcal to still be used for limp home mode and knock control.
You can use a eeprom to burn your new tune on and keep the piggyback.
or depending on the programmer you can reprogram the memcals prom. The memcals prom is uv erasable. Vs a eeprom that is flashed.

Re: Anyone have photo of EPROM location?
But the purpose of the emulator is what I described? To get the memcal out of your way so you can tune in real-time without having to keep re-programming a chip? (Trying to make sure I understand what the emulator is used for? I'm an embedded guy, and we usually use emulators in place of the CPU so we can do break points and such in the software)

You described the emulator.Limp home and cylinder select and knock function is required to run the car.
with a emulator you no chip swapping . It’s not recommended for long term use because it has a battery and if the battery fails you go into limp home mode. The moates apu1 is a all in one burner datalogger and emulator.
or get a ostrich and burn 2.
In my opinion if your going to spend that much spend alittle more and get a dynamic efi ebl.
no chip swapping and it can help you do ve learns for fueling adjustments.

Re: Anyone have photo of EPROM location?
Thanks, I'll look into it. I'm just getting a 1000 ft overview of what this stuff is about, in case I end up needing to tune for the new injectors once I get to that point. don't see myself spending a lot of time tuning, other than getting the injectors smoothed out, if they even need it at all

If your just concerned about injector swap say to bosch 3s.
And other minor changes tcc lockup if applicable, fan on/off changes ect..
Get a burn 2, a few sst27sf612 eeproms and a g1 or equivalent.
You will also need to datalog so you need a extreme aldl and cable1 from moates or if this is a 1227730 ecm 1320 and aldl cables have a cable that works with tuner pro rt.
