1991 1le formula firebird

I believe this is my first post. I recently purchased a 1991 formula firebird 1le. I was curious if we had any other formula 1le owners in here? Not sure where to post this so figured this would be a good start.

Well look it that! 91 Formula 1le 5 speed. Where on earth did you find it hiding? And is that a BC4 police RS car I see hiding in the background? Great find on the Formula! Any rust? We will need better pics then that.

Re: 1991 1le formula firebird

Found it abandoned in a field. Was posted up for sale for a long time but no one was buying it because it didn't run and drive. So I snagged it up when I realized what it was. No rust. I live in the 2nd driest state in the US. And yes that's my 1992 B4C 1LE factory 5 speed. I try to collect these cars whenever I get the chance. Only 24 years old. Got lucky with both of these cars.

Re: 1991 1le formula firebird

Great cars, glad you saved them That Formula could have easily ended up in the crusher if you had not pulled it out of the field. I am guessing you are in New Mexico. Anyone have the production numbers on 1le Formula’s? It’s been a long time since one has popped up?

Re: 1991 1le formula firebird

Thanks for the compliments guys! Plan is a full restoration but need tips and opinions on what should be done. I'm sure all rubber bushings should be replaced. But should I replace them with new rubber bushings or upgrade to poly? Car is just gonna be a show car. Not raced. I have my 1992 ls swapped purple haze z28 that I specifically built for racing so this one can sit pretty.

Yeah I'm glad I snagged it. Even tho financially I shouldn't have bought it lmao. Looking back I am glad it's mine and in good hands. I love these cars more than 90% of my whole state. I'm in utah. A fellow third gen enthusiast did all the research. Mines 1 of 27 made with a 5 speed. 46 total 1le formulas made in 91.

Re: 1991 1le formula firebird

The bushings may not even need to be changed. I didn't change the stock ones in my 92 Firebird and the ride is just fine.

Nice find! you gotta look under rocks! this was my backyard find : Formula with goody's!
it kind of found me - I popped the hood and surprise! 2 bonuses not just 1
what was exactly special on a 1LE besides brakes and aluminum driveshaft- harder bushings? I'm a little ignorant on these

Very nice find. Like others have said and what you plan my two cents would be to restore and keep it as original as possible. As rare as the 91/92 Formula’s are, finding one with a 1LE on the RPO would be like finding a needle in a moderate sized haystack lol. Want to trade even up for a green 91 with A/C and no 1LE? Good luck with it!

I don't think I'll ever sell this car haha. I'd much rather sell my ls1/t56 swapped 1992 z28 than this one lol
