Re: August 2019 COTM **Voting Thread**
I am honored to be nominated for the COTM. There are so many deserving cars I am humbled to even be thought of in this way. Thank you very much Dagwood and Abubaca for the nomination and for thinking of my car. I truly appreciate it.
I bought this 1989 Iroc-z, 5.7, automatic from the original owner and it now has 30,184 miles. It is mostly all original. It was wearing the original tires in all their dry rotted glory when I bought it. The original owner also gave me all the original paperwork from when he purchased the car from Bozarth Chevrolet in Topeka, Kansas. The blue dice hanging from the rearview mirror is there from the original owner also and I am leaving them there for now. I had never seen the bright blue metallic with beechwood tan interior and gold wheels/stripes in person before and fell in love when I found this car. My plans are to keep this car as original as possible as long as it's under my watch and use it as a cruise night, weekend cruiser. The original owner didn't molest this car for 30 years and I intend to do the same. There are two other deserving members also nominated this month and I know it will be a tough decision/vote. I appreciate being included in this group and I thank you for your consideration.
Please forgive my photography skills. I think I managed to get my reflection in almost every picture. I had trouble finding pictures that I WASN'T in! LOL

Love that blue and tan color combination. I only really see the tan with black or red cars, but it looks great with that blue. Very sharp Camaro you have there.

I love the Blue and Beechwood! ....my 89 is Bright red and Beechwood, and I've always wanted a Blue one! As Punzak9 mentioned, it's rare to see the blue and beechwood! Awesome car! ....and those Hawk's 17's look great too! To be completely objective, all three cars this month bring their own strengths, and they're all great nominees. Being biased, it's hard for me to vote against a stock blue Iroc! ....as always though, I'll wait for all participants to submit their write up and photos before voting.

Nice to see someone else take a pic of their engine while running. I'd say your skills are fine. That interior of your car looks mint!

I absolutely LOVE your IROC. The first time I saw it in your thread under members camaro's I made a mental note of it to nominate it for Car Of The Month. It is awesome, and deserves to be in the voting! I'm a sucker for original cars, and especially color combos that you don't see every day. Gorgeous car man. Congrats on the find!
If you ever want a rare 1990 G92 5 speed IROC-Z (1 of 295).....I know a guy that would probably trade ya lol

Re: August 2019 COTM **Voting Thread**
Thanks guys for the COTM nomination, it truly is an honor to have my car be among such incredible examples. My 85 IROC started out as an average auto LB9 305 IROC but was swapped a couple of years back and is now powered by a fuel injected LS1, 5.7 Liter engine from a 2002 Camaro Z28. The engine was completely disassembled, block, heads and crank were sent to the machine shop where the head faces were milled and the crank was polished. The engine was then rebuilt with an LG G5X3 cam kit, springs, rods and comp trunions. I had had the cooling system upgraded to 3 core Champion aluminum radiator with a shrouded 3000 cfm duel electric fan setup from Flex a Lite. I also added a Holley accessory relocation bracket kit in order to move the AC compressor, power steering pump and alternator up and away from steering components. The matching 4L60E (Automatic OD) transmission also from the 2002 Camaro was rebuilt/upgraded with: heavy duty 2-3 valve, 4L65E OH Kit, high energy clutch kit, Kolene steel 3-4 clutch (8) pack, wide drum and band, heavy duty sun shell, corvette servo, shift kit, pump kit, high RPM spring kit, higher capacity truck oil pan, fitted with a FTI (SRLS0086) 3200 stall torque converter and painted with hi temp VHT aluminum paint. Rear differential was also rebuilt with a Yukon DuraGrip diff, Dana(SVL) 3.42 gears as was stock and a Trickflow diff cover with diff bearing cap for support was also installed. The aluminum driveshaft from the donor 4th gen Camaro was also sourced and installed. Exhaust is provided by Racing Innovation stainless long tube headers 1 ¾”to 3” collector to 3” magnaflow exhaust and a 4” cold air intake is routed to outside air through the wheel well and a IAT of 2-5 degrees above ambient outside temp. Engine tuning by James Short of Shortuning in Stanford Kentucky in early 2018 and the LS1 makes 400+ hp. The car was also fitted with the plastic fuel tank from the 4th gen donor Camaro, a new fuel sender, a Racetronix fuel pump, all fuel lines were replaced with braided stainless flex fuel lines with AN fittings and fuel pressure gauge on the fuel rail. A correction to sending unit board was done to assure accurate fuel level reading on the stock 1985 dash fuel gauge. A Dakota digital converter was installed to allow the original speedo in cluster to provide accurate MPH reading. Stock suspension was upgraded with tubular suspension components, tubular a arms, adjustable panhard bar, adjustable lower control arms, trans x member, sub-frame connectors (welded in), torque arm, custom strut mounts, strut tower brace and tubular engine cradle/K member all by PA racing of Seymour, Indiana . Coil-over setup on the front also by PA Racing, Moog springs on rear and KYB shock/struts all around. New rotors, calipers, brakes, brake lines, custom caster plates, etc and a Matt Walter’s Astro steering shaft upgrade were also installed. The car’s exterior was completely torn down and rebuilt, body work was completed, the exterior was painted, decals/badging applied and the undercarriage which had zero rust was coated with POR 15. The car was originally black with gold accents but was changed to a black/silver color scheme. Front marker lights were replaced with reproductions from Hawks as were the fog lights. The rear taillights were scuffed with 1000 grit, the gridlines were hand painted black, sprayed with clear and buffed to a high gloss. Stock IROC Z wheels were bead blasted and repainted to correct factory finish and a set of BFG Comp II tires were installed. The inside of this IROC-Z28 is stock in appearance for the most part and features a Lear Siegler interior. The headliner was replaced along with visors and sail panels. Audio is provided by a Kenwood Bluetooth head unit with Kenwood component speakers powered by a JL Audio amplifier and 2-10” ultimax subs in a custom sealed enclosure powered by a second JL Audio amplifier. Custom amp mounts and all wiring were hidden. The IROC had a modern GM electronic cruise control system installed and the A/C system was converted to R-134.
My car’s stock appearance provides me with the experience of revisiting my youth which I spent driving these cars back in the 1980’s and the LS1 swap along with the addition of the other more advanced performance products makes this car my ideal cruiser. Thanks again for the nomination and good luck to all those competing!

GASPEDDLER........ man your IROC is killer, too!!!! It is so nice to see cars that are built "RIGHT". So many LS swapped cars are cobbled up, non working a/c, non working gauges, etc. I really REALLY love to see a car like yours that is built to very high standards. That is a super great build and beautiful machine!

GASSPEDDLER: Man, your car is very nice! That black paint looks like wet ink and it could just drip off the car. Super nice paint...looks like it has plenty of power too. Looking through your pictures it struck me as you aren't playing fair by posting the picture with the pretty girls in it! LOL I call that an unfair advantage! Just kidding....nice car and nice build. Good luck in the voting.

Wow. You got a super sharp looking stocker vs a crazy clean built machine. So very different, yet still so hard to decide.
Wonder what the last car will bring.

Thanks QwkTrip for the nomination!!!!
I'd love to have it done but I am currently trying to complete two other projects, 52 Studebaker Truck 6.0L LY6 and a ZL1 6L90 trans, an 1982 El Camino I'm putting a Terminator X, UMI Performance Level II suspension and Bigbrakeupgrade and rims and a third waiting, 1988 thirdgen Camaro convertible I put a eFIConnection SBC 24X system on along with no needing to replace the clutch master/slave and WBO2 in to do VE tuning. The Camaro is waiting for me to get done before the third week of Sept and it's drive back to Montana... A few things on my after work to do list...

Well the rules don't say you can't be nominated a few months later, assuming you don't win this month. Sometimes we won't re-nominate, but that's typically by choice, in an attempt to keep things fresh. I have no doubt that if you don't win here....and you finish it up in a few months, you'll get another nomination.
That being said, Gorgeous car Gixxer. .....soooo uhhh.....what's that in the garage behind your Camaro?!?!?!

That's my Dad's 1988 Trans Am.
He ordered it from Stephens Motors in Manchester, IA in 1987. It is a 27,000 mile, hard top, 350/auto with analog gauges, WS6, hand crank windows, manual door locks and was delivered with the black crosslace rims (I'm not sure how he did that).
I've had to replace his exhaust from it essentially rotting off the car sitting in the garage and what limited driving it has seen. I had a 4th gen B&B Tri-flow sitting in my garage off my 1994 Camaro (modified to fit the cat back), it bolted on to the TA without any modification to the stock Y-pipe. It sounds gorgeous on a stock motor...
It has never seen rain or snow and not more than five times driven in the rain since its birth, but in saying this... the spoiler has the rust expansion/explosion on the spoiler, I haven't replaced it for him yet. It has always been stored inside.

That is a fine car gixxer92. I’m sorry you got a late start. I think you have too nice of a car to not get a fair chance at winning. I also think you should get another crack at it and I vote you get another chance next month.
In the meantime, can I have your votes? It looks like I’m going to need them. Lol

gixxer, I tried to respond to your PM the day you sent it. I also attempted to let people know your situation here in this thread, but for some reason, on that day, on my CPU, I could click on links, but could not activate the cursor in order to type anything. Anyway, your car seems very nice, and I'm certain we'll see it in future contests.
