Full custom heads up display

Spent the last couple months making a heads up display for my turd. Pulls data directly from the gauges, runs it through an esp23 and sends it to a horizontally mounted screen in the dash where it reflects off the windshield. I made a full YouTube video on it here https://youtu.be/nEz2zk0gkSg

I put a separate **** for HUD dimming under the radio along with my interior lights pwm dimmer and my subwoofer volume. You can see it in the third pic

That is very cool. That is one example of newer "Tech" that I actually appreciate since it's helpful, w/no drawbacks.

Can you/could you move the projector closer to the driver to move the imaging further up in the view? Or would that make it get blurry? The image is very clear and easy to see for being projected on a standard windshield.

In theory yes, but you would start overlapping the speaker

Re: Full custom heads up display

Do you mind sharing the part numbers/sources for the things needed to put this together? I'd like to try this in my C4, which doesn't have the issue of the speaker in the dash. I love what you did there, and I would appreciate having that feature during track days.

Here's the GitHub for the project and I've got all the main component links in my video description. https://github.com/Lost-Arts/Heads-up-display
I'd recommend using the first display instead of the one I ended up using mostly because it's cheaper, way simpler coding wise and the library to run the display has features that make it so much easier to use. I'm fairly certain you could do the same custom backlight setup with it too.
