Mike at G-force most likely won't take on a project like that, LMR if they touched it would be super expensive and would generally turn some thing like that away. A smaller shop may be more willing to deal with/take on a project like that though.

ard DONT USE ARD you will get SCREWEDDDDDD
as said g-force and LMR are going to be the best "ls" shops in houston. Just be prepared, no matter where you go its going to be EXPENSIVE, if you find a decent place to do it for under 10k I'll be very suprised

thats the few they have gotten right maybe. since im 5 minutes from them and have had very good friends go there and have shitty work and seen and repaired it im suprised. but hey if they are doing you right the best of luck. i wouldnt take them my lawnmower after they chopped up a perfectly good 04 gto, 2002 camaro, 2001 camaro, 2002 ws6, and a few more. but hey we all have different experiences.

Shops like that make money off their package deals, cam installs, blower install, etc on newer vehicles they regularly work on, C5s, C6, 5th gens and so on. Some thing that new isn't going to have a ton of variables to cause issues and tie their techs up. They won't make as much money on the individual vehicle but, they can knock out a ton more rather quickly and make more than that ls third gen swap for $10K that may take them a few weeks to a few months to complete. So I wouldn't be surprised if they don't want to touch it or price it so high where your not going to want to do it which sucks because my next F-car project I want to do a third gen Formula 350 with an ls1/4l60e set up

Re: best shop in houston for an ls swap?
Wow thats sad to hear. Only thing they did for me was a trq converter install and shocks/lowering springs install since I dont have the means to do that myself down here like i used to have back in PA. Hence why i dont have my other car here. Oh well, maybe i'll look elsewhere for a ls shop. I wanted heads/cam the daily driver. I'd tune it myself but the software is 450 and dyno tunes are same price so why worry about buying the software when I dont plan on tuning anything else?

Re: best shop in houston for an ls swap?
Thanks for the reply guys.
In the past ive contacted g force and they refused to work on my 89 bird because it was too old. So i know they are obviously not an option. Ive heard lots of negative things from ARD also.
Lmr i havent tried.
I got a quote for an lq4 swap into my iroc from a small shop around my area and they want 3500 might end up just doing that and hope for the best.

I would definately take you up on this! I got a set of 243 castings I tore down and ready to have a machine shop clean up. Deciding if I want to send them out to have ported or not. This is my only car down here, and is a DD, so it cant be down for a long time but I can get a rental car for a few days. Its gonna have to wait abit since I'm doing new heads/cam on the other car and that just broke the bank alittle

I would recommend buying an Ls1 vehicle instead of doing the swap unless you are looking to spend a lot of money. The little stuff adds up quick. I should have just bought another car instead of dumping money into my 92. And yes, stay far away from ARD. They did my swap and ripped me off for a lot of $$$.

Re: best shop in houston for an ls swap?
Gapracing.net is the place to go!!! I have my 91 rs there now although its not getting a LSX swap it they did pull my old 355 and put a 408 in there! They are completley cool guys at very resonable prices!!! I mean reapinted the engine bay, bracekets, assec, new wiring, sus mods and set me up Joe at GnG for the motor work. I know Gap racing does do LSX swaps because they got a 67 vette in there with a LS2! I have seen other LSX swap in there as well, chevelle and trucks I believe! Anyhow they are WAY more inexpiensive than G-Force or LMR and actually they are very good friends with LMR and they both help eachother often!
Im posting a thread of my build now check it out to see their work!
They even have their 3 cars going to Mecum car show this Oct!

From the 355 to the 408 was 1k. Normally they charge $1200 but I had my heads and intake pulled first then the motor. I think they charge $60-65 and hr and their work is very nice!
