Re: Knoxville F-Body Association
I live in Maryville, but drive out to Kingston Pike almost daily. I'm only about 20 mins away, so sign me up.
Don't know if you guys know this or not, but here in Maryville at Foothills Mall, Sear's parking lot, we always have a decent sized cruise-in Friday nights around 6-7pm (if the weather is nice). A lot of people bring out their muscle cars and such. There's always a few first and second generation Camaros and Firebirds, but I'm usually the only third gen that shows up and my car, as of right now, is hardly show quality unlike most of these guys. lol.
But yeah man, I'm interested. Keep us all posted here.

Moving to knoxville on Tuesday, and would love to get back into an f-body group.. and get to meet some people in the area. So where and when are the meets? And unfortunately the 3rd gen is currently down (in the middle of a complete restoration and upgrade) so the WS6 is my daily..

And you can have a WS6 as your daily.. go buy one and drive it daily.. problem solved.
----------
Does the group do anything together... (ie cruises.. dinners, grill outs, etc)? Or just get together at a parking lot to talk cars? Just curious. Its more fun to get the group together to do events, then just always hang out in one place and stare at the cars...

Wow... I seriously thought I read that post as "You can have the WS6 for a daily"... and then my mind kicked in and thought I saw "Come get it, problem solved". lol.
I can't really afford to buy on right now. In the process of getting a beter paying job so that I can keep gas in my TA, get into an apartment, by a Camaro, and eventually move to getting a WS6 or a 5th gen Camaro SS or z28. lol.

And yeah, I'm not so sure that having to pay to join a car club and have some fun with fellow f-body guys is what I feel like doing... I'm all for hanging out, racing, and having fun, but I don't really want to have to pay for a membership... maybe I'm new to the club scene, but if I wanted people to come hang out and have fun at weekly/monthly meets, I wouldn't make them pay... (Checked the KNFBA website and he wants $25/yr)

Yeah, she was my daily for the 10 of the last 12 years.. I'm the 2nd owner. Asking 1500.00 for it, but I can't move with it. And I move on Tuesday, so not sure what I am going to do. I am trying to see if a buddy here will sell it for me. But its an auto 2.8L v6. About 160k (Tranny is out of an 89 camaro when they had them built better). Needs tires and has a slight idle issue that I haven't been able to figure out, but other wise, it was a good car.

Eh, you lost my interest with the 2.8L v6... I'm looking for more of an Iroc-Z or at least a factory v8 car.

Its ok. The V8 was only 25 more hp than the v6.. but it was still a good car.

25 hp more is still more. lol. There's also that rumble, and the cute little purr it makes at about 75 on the interstate... all kinds of things that a v6 can't measure up to. I've been trying to get a Camaro for years, but the right one hasn't come yet. lol.

Not really. I know that as odd as it may sound, the guys at the tire and lube shop in Wal-Mart here in Maryville actually know what they're doing and are very cheap. I haven't taken my car there myself, but everyone in my family does and they've never not come back satisfied.

just a thought on what we've been doing in SC, is I hooked us up with the Worldwide Camaro Club, and became the SC representative for that, and thus made our chapter the official SC Chapter of the Worldwide Camaro Club, as well as being the official SC Fbody Association.

Still not going to pay to be a part of a club. Not when we could all meet at Hooters one night a month and arrange bbqs and race days. No point in paying out to one guy just to be able to do that... we could do it by ourselves.

I agree DyingYoung138, I don't have the funds to pay dues to belong to anything... however, I think hooters is a bit over rated... not a bad idea though.... anyone else..?

Re: Knoxville F-Body Association
Well, Hooters sounds more fun for a bunch of gear heads than just going to Burger King. lol.
What we could all do is start our own little club, free of charge, and hold local BBQ's and meets at cruise ins and shows. I mean who cares about the funds as long as we have fun... when we want to have BBQ's we can take donations from all the members and go to Walmart for all I care for supplies. My idea is just to have fun. That's what it's about. We're not on this site to make a quick buck, we're here to have fun and talk about our cars.
My girlfriend actually had an idea about going with power cruises and raising funds for charities and stuff. Sounded pretty cool to me.

I'm in. Let's start a group of our own. Free of charge. Third gens mainly, but all f-bodies welcome. We can have our first meet sometime this fall somewhere out in Knoxville. Somewhere near West Town Mall is best for me. I can reach Kingston Pike with ease.
I also have connections for decals. T-Shirts not to much. lol.

Well, I've got 2 third gens to bring. lol. My '86 Trans Am and the future wife's '91 RS Camaro. Assuming she gets her license soon, we might be able to bring both of them if she would even be interested in our little club.
All we really gotta do now is make ourselves a name start our own topic, so we're not mooching off dudes thread here. lol.

point taken...
Do you want to start the new topic or should I... lol...
also, my 83 may not see the street till next spring... I'll just have to drive my truck to the meets...
I've been in the suspension all this summer... with school, work and the kids... I don't have alot of time to spend on it very often...

Yeah I'm in, its a great idea but we should seriously meet somewhere. The Grand Rod Run is April 15-17 in the Sevierville-Pidgeon Forge area. Maybe we could make a third gen section.

A few of us are planning to try and meet up at the Grand Rod Run, possibly at the Sugarlands Welcome Center in Gatlinburg. Would love to meet up with a few of you Knoxville peeps as I might be moving up that way in a few years. Or if you know of a good place we can meet up and park in PF (good luck right!) let me know where to try to get to!

The Sugarlands Welcome center actually sounds like a great idea.I may be able to make it if I get the body kit and radiator hoses on the TA by tomorrow night. We need to have a time though.
