My car isn't added to his collection. It is a WS6 too. Now only if we can get this starter to fit up is this tiny spot...

Way to early to tell, but right now it says 60% chance or rain....looks like it's going to not be a roof-less friendly kind of day..... guess we'll see as the week goes on.

Things are good to go for Saturday! Looking forward to seeing everyone. Panama city lsx should be bringing about 6-8 cars. If it does rain we do have a room a Johnny O's. Where we can wade it out.

I flushed out the radiator for an hour plus well one problem we r having is the single fan is not coming on and i jumped the plug for the fan and its still dont come on so maybe bad relay or motor what do yall think? Also its got a bad leak on the manifold right side one other than that good to go no t-top leak either

- thinking back on it , being able to fire the care using a splice wire but not consistently with the ignition switch would lead me to suspect the ignition switch. does your key get hot after a while? you could be grounding to the ignition switch which could cause your inconsistent starting.

unless Pontiac was different, to my knowledge the f-body's didn't come with 5.7's until 1987. i think there were some that had dealer installed 5.7's in 86, but factory production wise i don't think they were available till 87. again could be wrong, but unless some one changed the motor you should see 5.0 on the block.
if you can hook the suspected bad fan motor differently to a 12v positive and to a ground and it kicks on the fan is OK. the easiest way to test it is to warm the car up so the good fan kicks on then swap the power plug wires between fans and turn the key to the on position without starting it, the other fan should start spinning. if not, bad fan motor, if so i would need to ask under what conditions are you running the car and the fan isn't working. if the car is equipped with factory dual fans, the default programming wasn't designed to kick on the secondary fan unless the A/C is on or the car reaches a temp of 240**°. you can alter this by adding a different chip, adding a different temp sensor that fools your computer into thinking it's hotter then it really is (what my vert uses), or wiring the secondary relay to work with the primary so they both kick on at the same time. keep in mind the motors for the secondary fans weren't designed to run like the primary so wiring them to serve the same functionality as the primary may wear out your secondary motor faster.
leak in the manifold side right one? what does that mean exactly? intake manifold, exhaust manifold, plenum, runners? i'll need more information before i can answer that one.

I haven't heard from any of them but I'll be stopping by kmart for a bit to see if any show up. Not sure what time the meet even is but I'll be at kmart about an hour fortyfive before the official Destin meet time, and hang out about 20 mins or so.

Re: F-body meeting pensacola/mobile/montgomery/panama city
My 57 Chevy used to have the same problem. i never did figure it out just kept a long flat bladed wooden handled screw driver around. i got to the point where i just started jumping it that way. something else i did was found the starter wire from the ignition switch and put a splice in it with enough wire to make it to the battery. i then took and just put the key in start and contacted the splice wire to the positive battery terminal and it would fire right up. i know my 57 had an issue of the teeth weren't lined up properly, but i don't think that is the same issue.
- thinking back on it , being able to fire the care using a splice wire but not consistently with the ignition switch would lead me to suspect the ignition switch. does your key get hot after a while? you could be grounding to the ignition switch which could cause your inconsistent starting.

Re: F-body meeting pensacola/mobile/montgomery/panama city
probably exhaust manifold gasket and if i had to take a guess the one on the cylinder closest to the firewall. they are easy-ish to replace if you don't have any of the emissions stuff on the motor. otherwise it takes a little time. my IROC used to blow the passenger side exhaust gasket about once a week. i eventually got tired of replacing it and just got a copper exhaust gasket and re-tightened the bolts every week. providing it doesn't blow all the time like mine, exhaust gaskets are cheap.

SCORE! - or fail depending on how you look at it. just got two tires for my Vert off of craigslist for $40. the rubber is hard and there's only about 1/4 of the tread left but they will make great spares or backups if i need to buy alittle time.... where were these about two weeks ago....

If it was the switch wouldn't the solenoid not engage , I mean something is clicking loud like the solenoid when it goes to start

Re: F-body meeting pensacola/mobile/montgomery/panama city
i agree, but i'm wondering if the switch is causing just enough of a drop (possibly by being grounded) that it's not allowing full power to the solenoid. i think i was told when i had the problem with my 57 Chevy if it clicked but wouldn't start it was the solenoid, but i replaced the starter (which had a new solenoid attached) a handful of times and it never fixed the problem.

This appears to be the official thread on this:

1PM Saturday near Johnny O's. It's the parking lot by the Best Buy, Sonic, Olive Garden, Beef Jerky Outlet, Petsmart...
Weather looks like thunderstorms.

Meets going to happen rain or shine. Right now the chances of rain are between 40-50%. If it is raining when we get there then we will probably eat and drink early at Johnny O's and wade it out. If it doesn't then we spend more time outside and eat later.

Brian, just T into the ground signal wire on the fan relay and run an alligator clip to ground somewhere. That will keep it running the whole time until you sort out the problem. The wire is dark green/white and goes to terminal B of the relay. Ground that wire and if the fan doesn't come on, you might have a bad fuseable link that isn't sending the main power to the relay.
i never had to take off the TB on any of mine to replace the T-Stat, just use either a cresent wrench or a 1/4" drive socket.

Re: F-body meeting pensacola/mobile/montgomery/panama city
89RS what kind of tires do you have? I drive mine all the time in the rain and the only problem I had with the LSD was with the 14 year old gatorbacks that were on it when I first got it. Actually I had a problem on the DRY roads with those, as a near 180 at an intersection proved one day LOL. That said, these tires I have now are three years old with about 13000 turbo miles on them. I'm hoping for no flooding rains as they are getting worn.

Well I'll definitely stop by, but if it's raining the Camaro won't be leaving the garage... if it's dry at the time of departure, I'll gamble...

I think I'm going to do a quick wash of last weekend's trip's bugs off the nose and call it good to go.

It's gonna be pretty much cleared out of Destin by 1 but I'll be driving through the end of it from here. At least I don't have to wash and wax LOL

Looks like the weather cleared out nicely... I got caught up in some stuff until about 2:30 and missed the 1 PM. I swung through the lot but everybody was probably in Johnny O's.

It was an 86 Z28 and belonged to some dude (beleive he said his name was Josh) who said he bought it off some old couple who only sold it because they couldn't get in or out of it anymore. i think he said it had around 80K miles and the only thing it really needed was paint and a headliner (which he already did both). it was a nice looking car but i'm pretty sure he said he wasn't a member of TGO.

It was nice seeing and meeting everyone at the meet. ZZ3ASTRO, the Maro is looking good and coming along nicely. DA SPUDRO,had fun meeting you and checking out the clean car. Looks like you dodge some of the rain on the way in. It looked good. Hope you had a good time. The weather turned out nice once there. No rain and mostly clear skies. Hope everyone can make it out again next year.

Good seeing those familiar again and meeting those not so familiar... had fun.
88GTman it stopped raining 5 minutes before i left my house, i managed to dodge the rain and puddles for the most part until i stopped for gas in Bluewater Bay, at which point i had three water droplets land on my hood..... only water the car saw... i got lucky.
