I have a 91 RS V6 in the works. I can try to help you with any questions you may have. Mine is currently in need of some body work. I am kinda in the same situation as you, lol. It seems I can handle pretty much everything else, but bodywork is not my friend!

At this point, I have so many questions, I wouldn't even know where to start. I think my main goal right now is just to learn. I have some ideas I'm tossing around for my car, but no solid plans yet.
I don't know any car guys or gals, and I'm kinda wanting to jump in and get my hands dirty already!

Re: South Carolina, Charleston Area?
mr_william, is your car your daily driver? You should make a list of things you want from most important to least. Then make a second list of things the car needs to run safely (if it's not already). This way you kinda have a set of goals to shoot for.
This forum will answer most of your questions hands down. As far as getting your hands dirty is to do just that. Start working on the car! You can start with regular maintenance and/or a tuneup. That's how I learned to work on mine. I didn't even know how to change the oil until a friend showed me how!

It isn't my daily driver, though I was driving it around for a little while until a bearing in the clutch exploded. I've been debating whether I want to just fix the clutch and keep it drivable, or get into it the way I want to.
There are some other issues with it where I don't trust it fully. I know for a fact my goals are way too ambitious for my lack of skills working on cars. I want to do what the crazy kids these days call a resto-mod haha.

Re: South Carolina, Charleston Area?
the dash is filthy, but should clean up nice, I'll try and get some pictures for you and send them, I realized today, the SFC's are bolt in not weld in, I bought the bolt in connectors and was going to weld them too.

Tazz- I have a 350 TPI that I want to sell with ECU and wiring harness. It is still in the car and runs fine. Also, looking to sell a Keisler Engineering T56 made for Third Gens, shifter is moved so no need to cut floor, takes mechanical speedo, and has adapter plate to bolt directly to T5 bellhousing. Anyone interested hit me up.

Anybody need any interior parts, have a pretty big box of "this and that" stuff. Cleaning out and making room.
All good stuff just dont need anymore, and not looking for anything for it, just a sin to toss!

Re: South Carolina, Charleston Area?
Ok side question and maybe my issue.
Lets say car cools down and I try to set balance on #1compression to 6*btdc. And I go to crank, car don't start.
Can I move dizzy little here or there till it does start or meaning
Can I crank a second time?
Cause I have been....
Or do I litterly have to stop, re aligned it all, all over again prior to a second crank.

i dunno dude... my car was hot when i was setting my timing so its probably a little off... but i set everything to factory specs... and went on from there.. it was a little bit harder cause i have an aftermarket ignition system.. plus tons of vacuum leaks lol... but i would set everything stock and roll on from there... turn the screws on the carb all the way in and back em out 3 1/2 turns and go from there... i also had to go by sounds cause my tach doesnt work either..

yeah I know but this mess is a TPI, starting really dislike this it. Its like I had it idleing amd running well, just long crank, and second guessed myself. Tried to redo it as per threads at 6*
Now I'm all other the place and can't get it back to were it was.

Re: South Carolina, Charleston Area?
Bumping an old thread here... I'm toying around with the idea of selling my 1992 Camaro RS. Its kind of a train wreck at the moment; its just at the point where it could be a project car or a parts car. Its a 305 with a 5-speed (and I have an extra transmission)
I don't have the time or the funds to do what I want to do with it. It needs a new clutch (i have a clutch kit for it), a new front bumper, and tie rods to be drivable again. The interior isn't in the best shape, but its mostly there. Motor was running when I parked it after the clutch exploded. Its been in my garage ever since. Doesn't drive- will need to be towed.
It has all brand new brakes all around. (calipers, pads, rotors, drums, and shoes-- all with less than 500 miles on them)
I don't know if a post like this is allowed here, so delete if necessary, but I thought I'd let anyone on here grab it before I throw it up on craigslist.
PM me if interested. I work really weird hours so I may not be able to respond or show the car right away.
First reasonable offer takes it.

Re: South Carolina, Charleston Area?
Hoping to breath some life back into this idea. especially with the summer coming fast!
let me know, i think some BBQ and 3rdgen's !!
on another note, i just spent winter months working myself to death and am ready to get this TA running down the road correctly. Running as is, but really dont trust it. Newest thing is the "Surprise" shut down. IDK, for some reason computer wants to just turn me off. So i have been looking for either another motor set up or maybe a parts/donar car considering i have still a lot to do. Any help, would be great. If you see or find something, have or know something.
Thanks

on another note, i just spent winter months working myself to death and am ready to get this TA running down the road correctly.
Thanks

Re: South Carolina, Charleston Area?
Going to Illinois in July to retrieve my ole 3rd gen. I'm excited but also terrified because it's mostly put together. Unfortunately, the car will be making a stop in North Carolina where a friend of mine has a body shop. I'm going to have to post picture in July and do a write up on it. We will see what happens.

Re: South Carolina, Charleston Area?
Summerville area here... Hoping to focus and get my car back on the road.
The 305 started to knock so going to a 350/t56, buuut.... exterior ofcar is great but under the hood is rough. Have to fix battery tray and clean up under the hood, might replace brake lines, etc...

Re: South Carolina, Charleston Area?
anyone interested in a 70 GMC 2500? it's got a 400, but it also needs a rebuild. it'd be a great project truck, I'd keep it and swap in an LS if I had the time and space.
