Re: South Carolina, Charleston Area?

Run to the Sun is this weekend at Myrtle Beach. Ya'll should come check it out. Lots of nice rides there. I'll be there Saturday anyway. I usually park in the grass in the middle, the show is geared more for older rods. If anyone is around on Thursday, they have a cruise down the boulevard. Some of us locals usually meet up at the Beach House bar as they have streetside seating, bar with a great view of the cars as they cruise down the boulevard.

Re: South Carolina, Charleston Area?

I'm a Canadian down here in Myrtle Beach for March. During the Thursday Parade I'll be sitting out front at 1200 Ocean Blvd with my camera. I usually walk the show field on Friday. I'll be wearing a black hat and a light blue nylon backpack watching for your "White and Gold".

Re: South Carolina, Charleston Area?

Beach House is 1205 north boulevard. If you are close I'm sure you'll see it. Come on by as it's elevated somewhat and we got waitresses. I'll probably still have my Hadwin work clothes on so I won't be too hard to spot. I got to work on Friday hopefully, been slow this year so far as I do body work and we get slow when the tourists aren't in town. I usually don't do much cruising there but if it gets too chilly I may have to ride and stay warm. LOL South end has been cut down to one lane each direction so it doesn't move very quickly, a lot of people avoid the area. Danny BTW The color is a white with gold pearl, doesn't show up on pics very well but it's hard to miss on the road.

tazz, what kind of work do you need? I've got some left over parts but not much time on my hands right now. Still got one running around Surfside that needs paint on the front end. I'll be glad to help any way that I can.

Re: South Carolina, Charleston Area?

Tazz, that is a real good find especially in this area. Rust seems to take over things that sit long here.

I won't be able to make a meet first of April either. I've got tickets to Martinsville for the weekend. Then we are planning on going to Rockingham for the truck race. It was great last year with easy parking, great seats and inexpensive for a Nascar race. Anyone interested in going there post up and maybe we could get there a little early and park or sit together.

Thats awesome, and yeah def get car going. I mean, its not like im cruze ready...ill really give the stangs a laugh with a 1/2built widebody...lol

So im in your boat there, n I aint worried about $$$, not what im doing it for.

A couple years back when I lived in jersey, I was real involved locally n just really had a good time. Meeting car ppl, doing events or just hanging out, couple of us got close n we work on the cars together.

It was just alotta fun and good times.
Havent really done anything like that since I moved, so I fig...if you cant find something to be apart of...make something to be apart of.

& as for the airbrush. Yes sir, I been pushing cars n trucks lately, because I have been doing bikes so much its all im getting known for.
So im tryn to break into the cars.

Problem is, down south, you say airbrush n ppl think tshirt art. But im more of a fine art style and def more in depth.

I definitely wont be able to take my car either. Although, I am figuring a lot longer of a time line than 2 months, lol.

I am definitely glad you are setting this up and I look forward to meeting everyone! Not to mention, I am definitely wanting to help others out with their builds. I am not an expert, but definitely eager to learn.

On a side note, I am looking to have my Homecoming Party at my place April 20th around 9pm. There will be Oysters, plenty of liqour, BYOB, beer pong, bon fire, and hopefully the hot tub will be up and running! (Both of my camaros will be in attendance, ha)

I am hoping to meet up with everyone prior to that date, seeing as I am not interested in posting my address online or having a bunch of random strangers show up, lol... More information to come once I am back in town

Ah, I hear ya. How long you think it will be before it is complete?

Seems like most the builds take about 3 times what people think, if they finish at all. Using that formula, I should be done with mine around 2016 .

Re: South Carolina, Charleston Area?

Lmao...so true, I projected 10months on mine and that was body n interior done with performace at par for a swap next year, but im already in 3months n just started body last month...lol...at this rate, im hoping to have bugs worked out n running at par in 2&body in primer....ill be happy
Painted n interior done by xmass n I be really happy, but....who knows
Time verse money is what gets most projects, me...its time...mainly, but need the time to make the money for the project to need time.

Re: South Carolina, Charleston Area?

Well, hopefully we will all get our projects done within our respective goals.

I am wanting to finish in a year, but if it takes 3 yrs, so be it. I am planning an entire rebuild from the ground up. Stripping the Z down, weld in new floor pans, sfc, 6 point roll bar, (learn how to weld, haha), rhino line entire under carriage, LS1 swap out of 01 donor, redo interior, and new paint job. OH and now a 9 bolt swap possible ( thank you BlackTop). Money isnt so much an issue as space and time. I am hoping to get the space in my next house that I plan to buy as soon as I get back that will have a 2 car garage. Then with only 6 days off a month, I may have to take vacation just so I can work on the car, lol.

Hey BlackTop, do you ride by chance? If so, what you got?

Besides I been tryn to break back into the cars.
Its orignally were I started but its been all bikes mainly since I moved here.

Anyway, I have a couple bugs to workout. then I'm sure you will be passing me here n thetr. Just I am a painter more than a mechanic, so that side of the fence takes me much longer.

Open to sugestion for where?
Although im still ok with a cook out
I will probably be back, but may have to work that day. Around 6pm I should be able to make it.

Suggestions - Cook out sounds great to me. If not, then hooters or sonic would be good options.

I may have to bring the woman though, 6 months of not being home and she may be selfish, lol

Re: South Carolina, Charleston Area?

Thanks for the welcome and info on hood, i will look at myrtle posts on cl now. I will be listing some parts off of birds and maro's this summer. Range from tpi motors to interior and bodyparts posi rear. Once i finish my 85 t/a and 92rs i will pass some savings on to you guys with what i have left. Most will be big pieces so local pickup is best. But will offer shipping on smaller items. I have 14 total f-bodys. Thanks again for the heads up on hood.

Re: South Carolina, Charleston Area?

Fbody central :-) ive been building these cars for many yrs and kept a collection for parts. I searched sc..nc..and no cowl hoods yet. Must have sold quickly. Saw a few on cars for sale. Onething ive learned inding my work. 82-92 firebird/trans am aftermarket hoods are hard to find used and hardest to find a fiberglass hood that fits correct and goes with the body lines well. Why couldnt i just need a 82-92 camaro hood. Thanks for the help on my hood search and if u see any in your area...would be greatful

Re: South Carolina, Charleston Area?

prostreet, there is a firebird 92 I believe near me the guy said $600 for it. It's pretty much a body shell with some interior. Good looking red body though. I'll get some pics if you are interested.
