Hi Jim, Sorry you can't make it. Home and family come first. Maybe next year?

Hi Kurt, Sorry that you can't make it. Maybe at a later time? Have a great time while on your Power Tour weekend.

I want to do the whole Power Tour sometime, maybe after retirement.

Yes that power tour sounds like a great time but I couldn't take that much time off work either. Maybe after that winning lotto ticket.

We're registered for the show, now to get some rooms lined up for the week.

I believe so. Haven't made reservations yet but that is the plan so far. I've been without a smoke for a month now so that's not a problem anymore. LuAnn is still working on that. LOL

Got confirmation for the party room at Joes today, still waiting for word if we will get the discount or not, not a big deal to me but it might help some. Chad said he will update the page and facebook we just need to give him the details. So what do you guys wanna put up just "Thirdgen.org Cruise to Joe's Crab Shack Cruise 6:00"?

It look good to me Jordan.

Im hoping to register and book rooms before the end of the weekend.

Did we find out if we can have row 4 back? In fact, do we have a head count?

No word on the parking map. Often they post it a few days before the gathering, as they wait as long a possible for last minute registrations.

Re: F Body Gathering Atlanta Memorial Weekend May 24-27

Betty and her sister Jan are the big sea-food lovers in our family. I will eat sea-food, but it is not my first choice. Betty will be staying with Jan the whole time that I am at G-17, so they will miss getting to go to Joe's.

Lucky for the ones of us who are not big sea-food lovers, Joe's has other choices.

I am going to have to get busy. The race car trailer needs some brake work, and I have to detail Amanda...

It is a fun show, you should come. It's looking like we should have a good 3rd gen turn out this year too.

I PMed Chad and he is going to update the gathering site and post it on facebook as well.

Re: F Body Gathering Atlanta Memorial Weekend May 24-27

G-17 is a month away!

Each year the TGO group has grown. We are becoming a major force at the G's. This year, thanks to Jordan's hard work we are hosting the dinner cruise for the first time. Way to go Jordan! This year, lets see if we can bring so many thirdgens that we can outnumber those 4th gen and 5th gen folks. We want them all, beaters, drivers, racers, and even those fuggly museum pieces. I hope that some brings some competition for Amanda.

If you have not registered for the event and registered for your hotel room, please do so ASAP. The G's run on a shoe string budget, and the hotel holds the gathering staff accountable for unsold hotel rooms. Every year Andy and Chad pay all of the upfront costs with thier personal credit cards, about 30K. Thier goal is to break even on the event, not to make money. There is no profit in this event, as everything is spent on the event. Chad, Andy, and thier familys do this for F Body fans and for the love of all generations of F-body cars. Andy gets us a 50% discount on these rooms.

Lets show our support, and overrun G-17 with Thirdgen cars and Thirdgen people.

Pretty sure I can get the car ready in time still, but I will be cutting it close. I went ahead and registered and booked a room for Saturday night anyways. They were posting something about kicking out people that don't have show badges, so even if you don't have a car if you wanna come you gotta register. Not sure if that will be enforced or not.. but I guess I will have to stay sober enough to at least not loose my badge like the last three years

Re: F Body Gathering Atlanta Memorial Weekend May 24-27

I may join you all for this. It will definitely be a last minute decision cause I will need to paint my car before coming. I plan to get that done working Saturdays over the next 3 weeks. Gonna likely do the last few legs of Power Tour so this will be a good start to some cruising.

How many folks going to F Body Gathering from South Atlanta or even further south of Atlanta like Macon, Warner Robbins, Columbus, Savannah, etc? Is a caravan planned already from the south?

Welcome!

Join us, even if your car is in primer. It looks good in the pictures.

You will not regret coming to G-17.

If anyone has problems getting to G-17 and back home feel free to call me. I haul Amanda around in a 24 foot Pace Shadow enclosed trailer behind an old F-350 CC dually. Once Amanda is at the hotel the trailer just sits. We can make arrangements to haul you in. If you have problems, there will be lots of helpful and talented folks at G-17 who will be glad to help you get your car running again once you are there.

Charles' Cell 828-399-9580

My nephew Bret and his wife Brandi may be joining us. He is serving in the Air Force in Tampa, and they love cars. They are into import tuners right now, and he wants to transplant an LS engine into a Nisson 300 XYZ-something. I keep telling him to just buy an LS powered Camaro and be done with it. You all can help this poor confused kid see the light. Maybe we will send him back to Tampa in an F-body?

Ok Ladies and Gentlemen we are a little more than a month away from Gathering. We need to get PAID registrations and ROOMS booked. As of right now there are rooms that have not been booked that the event will have to pay for. Without you and your PAID registrations this event could not happen. In the past we have had a few that attend the event without a car and did not pay a registration. If you are planning on attending the event without a car you still need to PAY to attend. This year if you do not have a name tag from the registration office you will be asked to leave the event.
Thanks in advance from the Gathering Staff"

Just so there is no misunderstanding, if your registered and attending, and have family, significant other, or a friend attending with you, make sure you list them in your registration. Every year I get there I ask to get a name tag made for both my kids when I check in at the show registration.

Re: F Body Gathering Atlanta Memorial Weekend May 24-27

Hi Tony, I read that also. Something about that statement does not make sense. The registration seems centered around the cars, not the attendees. There is no information listed about what the costs of attending G-17 is without a car, or how to register for the event if you don't have a car. Maybe one is supposed to leave the car part blank?

What about the people who come in off of the street on Saturday morning to look at the cars? Are they considered attendees? I have e-mailed Fran and asked her to clarify her statement. If she tells me something different, I will share it with everyone.

Tony, we register the same as you with all of our immediate family who are planning to attend listed in the registration. This year on our registration, I listed Betty and listed our five year old grand daughter Aurora since we were planning to bring her with us. Maybe I had better amend it so that Yohnah, my assistance dog is listed?

If my nephew and his wife attend I will register them separately without a car. Since they are not immediate family, it does not seem fair to bring them in under my registration.

That's how I understand it.

Charles

Will anyone be coming up on Saturday? I will likely have to work and not come up Thursday or Friday.

Be there Friday with some semi-gloss rattle cans and a couple rolls of tape and we can take care of the paint. LOL

Charles is right, just bring it. It's all good at the Gathering.

Re: F Body Gathering Atlanta Memorial Weekend May 24-27

Lol, I hope you are serious guys! I may take you up on some help with some work! Ill probably go ahead and paint it before coming but there are a couple of issues I wouldnt mind getting you guys to advise me on like EGR, injectors, and radiator fans cutting out.

All this excitement about cruising and such made me pull out the convertible and wash it. I wish I could bring it but it needs an engine rebuild. It will run but its got bad blow by thru the oil dip stick so I know its not long before that engine is toast.

The Gathering is north of Atlanta in Marrietta GA. If you come to Atlanta, the I-285 bypass makes a complete circle around the perimeter of the city. The gatheirng is just off I-75 North about 2-3 miles north of the 1-285/I-75 north interchange. You exit on the east side of the highway, to the right if heading north on I-75. The hotel is on the frontage road next to the interstate. It is easy to find.

Welcome!

Hey guys. I was planing to attend but i'm not going to register this year. My baby girl is due around the same time.
More about this new rule. Since i'm not registering, does that mean i can't drop by for a couple hours and look at the cars and say hi?

I did not think I was going to make it this year. As it turns out, there is a chance I'll be back in time to go. So far how many TGOers are going? If I do get a chance to go, would you all like to plan on getting a group shot on Saturday?

Hi Rickey,

Chad wrote a clarification in a later post on that origianal tread that Fran posted.

The way that I understand it, is that if you wish to participate as an attendee, you must register. Otherwise you will not be allowed to bring your car into the show area.

Spectators are allowed entrance for free, but they are not allowed to bring vehicles into the show area.

If you want to stop for a while to visit the group and see the cars, you will be considered a spectator.

If anyone else reads these posts differently, and I have it bass-ackwards, please chime in and clarify the issue.

Rickey, Here is wishing you, your wife and new daughter all the best. Hopefully everything will go perfectly for you all this summer.

Hopefully, you will also be able to include a little time to stop and say hello to the TGO group at G-17.

Re: F Body Gathering Atlanta Memorial Weekend May 24-27

Charles pretty well has it explained. It appears they have been monitoring other sites where there comments that people have been attending and participating for year at no cost. It is out of pocket expenses for the staff to continue the show and I do not blame them for enforcement. We are the participants and without the show we have no gathering. I bring my family and get them their own name cards at no cost, since Im at the hotel and registered for the show.

There was a comment on the facebook page stating it was going to be dominated by 5th gens. In fact it was said "In a few more yrs the 5th Gens will over take us, and we'll be the 3rd gen folks of today.LOL"

I do not think this intended to be offensive, but I take it as challenging. At the first gathering I went to in 2010, I counted about 10 third gens out of hundreds of f bodies. Since then we have grown. So lets see as many third gens participate that can be there. This year will be the largest group of third gens at the gathering. TGO is sponsoring the Dinner Cruise Saturday Night.

I am all for a photo shoot anytime during the weekend. A group picture would be great.

Charles, I, and a few others will be there Thursday through the weekend and will again post contact information for those lost, stranded or in any other trouble.
Don't forget that the theme this year is "F bodies in paradise" So gather up your Luau stuff and drag it along. I just picked up a few things to dress out the canopy.

If you are attending for the first time and have any questions on where to go, what to bring, etc., post up and ask!

Re: F Body Gathering Atlanta Memorial Weekend May 24-27

This is Chads latest post.

"A couple of important notes:

This year we are cracking down on freeloaders. All cars in the event area MUST have their parking sticker visible. Display it or be towed; we don't have time to track you down.
Credentials (namebadge) must be dispalyed. This is mostly just so we know who is a spectator and who is a participant if something gets out of hand.

We hate to be this strict, but I have seen a few posts on various sites about people who "haven't paid in years". And people wonder why we lose money and barely commit to doing the next event.

Message me with any questions."

So really no different than normal, they are just crackin down on freeloaders which is great. Hopefully it will help continue this show for years to come.

I look forward to the day we out number 4th gens. So bring what ya got!

A group shot Saturday would be awesome, I'm all for it. Lets get as many cars as we can. Make sure you register for the show as thirdgen.org so we have allocated parking for all of us.

Got some primer down last night... still a long road to go.

Trying to come up with a good name for the 82?

Everybody knows that Amanda (the 86WS6) was named for her original owner, the late Amanda Crowe a native craft teacher and a famous Cherokee Wood Carving Artist.

The original owner of the 82WS7 is very much alive and well. I hope he stays that way for many more years to come.

Here are a couple of thoughts...

Suggestions are welcome.

1) White Bird

2) White Eagle

Welcome Bob,

Hopefully you can come to G-17. It will be great to see you again. Will you be bringing your beautiful Hugger Orange Z-28? and gorgous Blackbird vert?

Are you still delivering tanks in the big sand box and shooting at pirates?

Be safe.

Hi Charle,

Thanks. Yes,Yes, No, Yes, Yes.

Yes, will be great to see you, Betty & Amanda too.
Yes, will be down for Friday afternoon and Saturday show with Hugger 3rdGen Z28 clone.
No, BBird will have to stay, no driver this year.(Next year daughter will be old enough to drive 3rdGen)
Yes, still moving tanks(Although mostly shells)
Yes, pirates still dying to meet us.

Seems like it's going to be a bigger turn out than last year. 3rdGens being in the majority is stacked against us- The number 1 Cash for Clunkers car turned in were 3rdGens

Always looking out for my friends Bob...

Tony, all jokes aside, everyone will enjoy your video. Are you going to post it on Y-Tube?

Something like TGO takes over G17.

Re: F Body Gathering Atlanta Memorial Weekend May 24-27

Welcome Chad!

Thanks for clarifiying things. Everything you said makes sense. You, Fran, Sherry, Andy, Jim, Russ and countless others work tirelessly every year so that the rest of us can kick back and have a great time. Thank You.

Cheaters should not be tolerated. Cheating undermines the continued existance of the Gathering, and everyone involved. As attendee's we should take pride in paying for our fair share of the fun, and supporting the gathering staff any way we can. Besides you all have kept the registration fee as low as possible for many years.

As far as the 5th gen folks taking over, I say more power to them. Over here at TGO, we'll just recruit more thirdgen people. Aren't we all working for the same goal, the enjoyment and celebration of all things Camaro and Firebird?

Ok Chad now that you have come out of your thirdgen closet, when are you going to buy a thirdgen of your own? You are welcome to park with us.

I do miss my IROC! However, if I had the time, money and a garage, I would have another 3rd gen! And Fran would have another 4th gen! See my dilemma, I would have to buy 2 cars!

Re: F Body Gathering Atlanta Memorial Weekend May 24-27

Hello guys,

I'm excited for G17! I can't wait. I'm hoping I will get my 5 speed in before the show.

I have a concern/comment about the show that might solve the entire "non paid attendee's" problem. Last year was the first time I attended the show. I heard about it from a 5th gen guy at a local cruise in. After viewing the website and seeing the $45 entree fee I didn't enter my car, I just spectated. I thought the $45 was a little too much.

After spectating I know it is worth the entry fee. I will be entering my car in the show this year. My point to this is that I think you guys are seriously lacking the pictures and videos on the website! If I knew the show was going to be that big I would have definitly entered my car. This simply shows the mass of the show.
