I won't be in paint, but I should be up and running. I think it would be a fun small overnighter for the wife and I.

Re: Anyone from NC?
Can't believe I just lost my reply, here goes again....I am pretty set on the LS3 or L92- 376 ci larger bore, higher compression 10.7:1 and all alloy motor. Main decisions I am working on solving- I do not want to run a drive by wire(LS3) so conversion necessary. Trying to decide modifying factory K member vs. going tubular route. Definitley want an overdrive trans MANUAL (was a t-5) car as I ordered back in 87'. Not completely sold on everyones choice on T56 with Hyd clutch. Planning on high HP after swaps settles in and I don't like doing things twice. Have to run scattershield and thinking Richmond 5 speed. Would rather not run the pull type hyd'lc setup. I was pushing 515hp back in the day with high comp, high stressed 388. I can't believe the t5 stood up all those years. I ran an awesome Centerforce Dual Friction back in the late 80's and it was great on the street. Trying to figure out if I want to go old school with the trans/clutch setup or go the way everyone else does and just do the LS/T56 and be done.....I am leaning towards a GTO dropout 2005-2008 as the fastest approach. If anyone is interested in actually TALKING I am always available....this texting/emailing gets old for personal use since I do it all week for work. We could setup a time for a call in the evening some time that would be great.
Thanks again for the response and the offer!

Re: Anyone from NC?
I would love to do a LS1/T56 setup, but do not have the knowledge to do it myself. I have priced it and it is out of my pricing.

Re: Anyone from NC?
Done quite a few engine swaps (several in my Camaro) but never a LS/T56. One I REALLY want to do after my Camaro is an LS based 8-Series Bimmer-840 ( I know don't laugh). I have always thought of that as an amazing design but underpowered. Why not have the best of both worlds like my other long time favorite the DeTomaso Pantera. Italian styling with a 351 Cleveland (another LS canidate!). I can't wait to work out all the details.
I'm Old School and plan out as many details BEFORE I jump in (age/wisdom maybe finally paying off!)
Regards, and always open to discussion with other gearheads, this posting gets old.....
Back to the response I don't see any cheap way to do this swap even using a drop out deal. I know I have read guys doing the LS swap for under 2K but they must get the bullet/trans for free? The extras, periferials will kill any budget....
My thoughts!

Re: Anyone from NC?
lol Heck Pocket I'd pay you $2K if you could do the swap for my '92 Bird.
I just want the basic swap now. I can do mods later.

Re: Anyone from NC?
I love how my email never notified me that anyone posted in this thread.
Anyways my car is down because I just picked up a Stealth Ram setup for $650
But I just noticed I had no clue how to tune for a PROM.
Im thinking about getting the AutoProm setup from Moates, but I will be a long way from running anytime soon.
Anyone do chip burning near Winston?
