Re: Official Tampa, FL Area Thread

Hoping to get headers on tonight, run the fuel lines, and run the feed line for the trans cooler. Gotta run to Lowe's to get a 3/8" NPT adapter to 1/2" NPT, some nuts for my motor mount bolts, and some 5/16"-24 bolts for the water pump pulley. Picking up a new shift cable, and a carb throttle cable from a 85 to swap to.

He's upset with us for making him be the only third gen there.

Just made it home guys. Awesome meet. Good to meet you guys.

Mine being the only one there was no problem...that couple who was eye ballin the bird was worth it.

The drive home wasn't bad either. So glad it was in the upper 50s because usually driving home in rain sucks when the Windows are up.

When is the next meet?

When my car, and Will's are done lol.

I cut the ECM harness free today, and sorted out most of the C100 wires. But then the dinner bell rang and I went in for the night.

Yea I thought it was pretty cool when the couple was checking out your car. The look on the guys face, looked like a kid seeing his dream car. That was awesome. I know what you mean about the rain; I have no heat or ac. I need to get around to hooking the heater core back up but I need to situate the heat situation under the hood. I already removed the cowl seal. Next meet we can BBQ on my hood, lol.

I know it would be a drive for the Tampa area guys, but I would love to set something up by Cape Canaveral. A cruise down A1A would be a must do as well.

Short term I will probably be down for anything. Jim, I know you said something about Zepherhills, any spot in particular?

I'll drive wherever. I'm going to run heat in my car for sure. Too cold not to.

Not really. I've only been to Zepherhills a handfull of times. I have a friend who lives there that im sure would love to see some 3rd gens again. Maybe get her to thinking of getting back into one.

Sounds like you are getting close, Rubber.

Finally ordering the floorpans in a few days if all goes as planned.

Going to start stripping the car tomorrow so I can clean the engine bay up and have the rest of the body ready for one I do weld in the new floors.
Going to be a lot of work in a shortish amount of time, but I'll be happy when I can finally drive this car since it's been sitting in my garage for almost a year now.

Don't worry, I'm not going to; my dad has been saying the same thing to me every since I bought the car, lol.

When I say a short amount of time, I mean a couple of months.

I know that feeling. My Mercedes will be broken for 2 years in March.

Good to hear progress on your part as well!

When you see it in person the difference is much more noticeable. I'm slightly tucking tire up front, and I'm another 1/2 inch lower in the rear than you.

Is there anywhere cool near the Port of Tampa to take photos? We could probably meet up over there and get all the cars in for some shots.

After looking at my rear photo again, I'm reminded how awesome my louvers look. LOL

Yea those are the louvers I want. I could do 1/2 in the back and do 1/2 inch spacers under the strut mount and be satisfied to be honest. Maybe 3/4 inch in the front and 1/2 inch in the back so it doesn't look retarded with a full tank. A Third gen wouldn't look right with a bulldog stance.

Maybe the port of tampa area would work. I would love to do a photo shoot in a railyard as well.
Ultimate place is like I said before, Cape Canaveral. Would be awesome to work something out with NASA to use the shuttle runway. Thats where they tested the Hennessy Venom GT. Apparently NASA will let supercars do testing on the runway. So I don't think it would be far fetched to think we couldn't get a photoshoot done.

I would love a pic with my car and a launch tower with a Delta 5 on it. Cause getting the shuttle on one isn't gonna happen anymore :'/

That's actually doable. I was speaking to a pilot friend who I fly with some times about it last night. You pretty much give them a ring and ask if you can use it. The Executive airport here in Orlando will let you use a decommissioned runway if you ask nicely and they aren't using it.

Lololol. Good to hear!

MAJOR progress tonight on my swap.

Trans cooler lines. - Done
Fuel lines. - Done
Bolted on drivers side header
Wired in dizzy
And I found I messed up and cut the fan relay, which I will be wiring back in lol.

Should get to start the thing tomorrow night, if not Saturday morning. Also noticed that I really need tires up front, so I'll have to stop by Discount Tire and get a couple for the front before I head on over to Will's Sunday.

Re: Official Tampa, FL Area Thread

Gary, I noticed a discount tire across from where we met up. That store must be new. Coincidence we were talking about it and the next day I find a new store opens up closer to my house.

Zepherhills or clermont, doesn't matter to me.

Well if you aren't doing anything tomorrow, you should come out to Webster. I'm sure we could use an extra set of hands.

Will, I will try to come over, but tomorrow looks like it'll be brakes day. PM your phone number, and if we get done at a decent time, I will make a little trip.

Well, it's gonna be coldish, it's Sunday, so I sleep late and move slow, and I always anticipate other things breaking/discovering other things broken that take time. But hopefully, none of those things happen, as more broken stuff=more $$. I don't like to spend $$. Plus, I would like to come over and help/hang out.

Re: Official Tampa, FL Area Thread

Yeah, I would go to Will's for the brake work, but if i need more parts, there's a ton of parts stores in Clermont and Groveland. They are good enough to drive on, just really warped, and really squishy and I'm finally fed up with em and have a few bucks in case we discover any other issues. Hopefully not, cos I would like to come over and hang out.

Will beat me to it. Once I got the diagrams and stared at them till I understood them it became easy. I did mess up and cut the fan relay out, but I wired it back in pretty easily.

Negative. My flashlight died, So I went to get the charger, then it disappeared. $200 down the drain until I find it.

Then my phone gave up so I had no more light and went in.

Tomorrow I have to finish tightening the header bolts, finish one hose on the water pump, put the carb throttle cable in, tighten the starter solenoid bolt, put coolant in the system, bolt the battery in, finish one more wire on the alt, and then hope for the best.

I'm so over this swap now, its not even fun anymore.

Will, I dunno when I'll be able to make it over there, if at all.
