Re: 1982 CHEVROLET CAMARO IRON DUKE 4 SALE
It may be "rare & unusual", but with a 4 cylinder it is pretty much also worthless. It is probably a $500.00 car unless it is in poor condition. The v-6 was about 1/2 as big as should have been considered a minimum engine for the Third Gen.

Just a heads up people- Most of you have no idea the potential of this car. The iron duke is a baseline platform of the SUper Duty Four which accepts SBC V8 heads. This thing is lightweight and can be bad ***.
Cosworth made a 16valve version of this mootor specs and then GM knocked it off for a NASCAR touring car seires years back. They were also used in Truck racing on circle tracks. These babies can put out well over 30 hp.
Matter of fact there is a guy selling the trick pontiac racing version of the 16 vlve coswrth head right now on EBAY. Talk about a car that could kick my cars *** on autox if setup the same but with this lightweight powerplant instead of my 2.8V6.

The head posted on ebay is not for the iron duke. It's for the Quad four the iron duke is not and overhead cam motor and can not be made one.
Gm peformance parts did off a super duty version of the iron duke but it made no where near 300hp!

Nah, I think thats the Pontiac racing super duty 4 banger head.
I'll go dig up my article later, maybe scan it and post it. IIRC it was a bit under 300hp... still not bad for a 4 holer... but it was expensive.

knowledge of the Iron duke and the quad four. The iron duke is a push rod motor with a gear driven cam and the quad four is a overhead cam motor that's chain driven.

Re: 1982 CHEVROLET CAMARO IRON DUKE 4 SALE
Gm had a super duty 4, AND also Pontiac had a Coswroth version Super duty 4. Maybe I was not clear but I ment you could take and put the Cosworth style SD4 (that would be the Pontiac head I linked- Of course it will not bolt onto the Iron duke) into the old Iron Duke car, Or you could keep and build the iron duke with a GM SD4 with the SBC head. Hope I am clear now.
There are options for very good HP out of a 4 banger.
I have been dreaming of the Cosworth style one for a while now in my '67 mini. hence why I have been watching the EBAY link. A true Coswirth 16valve go for about $20K- This Pontiac kit could be built for alot less if this Ebay link was acquired.
Here's the Gm Version using the SBC heads: Now when I say GM version I mean Pontiac and Chev- Now I know the EBAY link has a Pontiac head but THAT Pontiac head is the Cosworth version):

Re: 1982 CHEVROLET CAMARO IRON DUKE 4 SALE
If he gets desperate and the car will drive to NM I have a few bills I have to agree with Plasma-Sword, it has to be TBI and based on the pictures the dash pad is a replacement and not the original.

Been trying to decide how to reply, think I figured it out.
Thats nice. Maybe you needed some more experience. I'd suggest next time when throwing your credentials around, you be a little more careful with your so-called 'facts' that are complete garbage.
Notice the port bolt pattern, angle, and spacing match the pictures on ebay. Also note they added a timing cover, that theres a chain behind, lifter bore inserts, and a dummy cam to drive the distributor and oil pump.
Might want to tell Pontiac Motorsports division about that, they apparently didnt get the memo.

Re: 1982 CHEVROLET CAMARO IRON DUKE 4 SALE
I worked for GM Many, many years and have hands on
knowledge of the Iron duke and the quad four. The iron duke is a push rod motor with a gear driven cam and the quad four is a overhead cam motor that's chain driven.
The cylinder head on Ebay is a quad four. It's the same design as the Cosworth vega Four cyl. Not the iron duke.

I am the person who bought the head in that link, for my Pontiac Super Duty 4 cylinder. I assure you it is NOT a Q4 head. Please note that Cosworth did make replacement components for some internals for the Pontiac SD4 (Cosworth Project DB). Also please note that this is a Pontiac motor, not a Pontiac knockoff of the Vega motor, though similar in some aspects, and not a GM motor that was passed around 3/4 of Michigan. ALL of the SD blocks produced say "Pontiac SD" right across the side. Anyway, the Cosworth head for the SD4 is also much more aggresive than the Vega head. This head pushed a 3.0L SD Fiero dragster to 9.80's in the 1/4 mile. Oh yeah, it was naturally aspirated too.
The Kansas Racing Products block, while based on the SD core dimensions, is NOT the same casting in any form. It can handle up to 1200HP, and can be machined for Mopar, Ford, or Chevy heads. The Pontiac SD casting is not as beefy, and will ONLY accept GM 151 and Pontiac SD heads.
If you want to learn more about the Pontiac SD4, here is my buildup thread:
http://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum2/HTML/055858.html
There's lots of good stuff in there, but the best parts are pages 1-2 and 7-9.
Cliffnotes:
PS, to anyone who says the SD 2v didn't have power potential was dead wrong. My 2v head flowed 270CFM, and I was shooting for almost 700HP on spray until I found the DOHC head, which I've been looking for for the last 4 years.
EDIT: I forgot to say, if you wanted to run and order one like you said, it would be part number KK0555 from Cosworth.
Man that was a long first post. Bump for the seller, good luck!

If it was unable to pass smog the state will give you at $1000 and maybe $1500 depending on your income. They just want to get it off the road.
