ball joints
i am putting all new es bushings in this weekend. jegs said they arrived today so that is the plan anyway. my ball joints look ok. the car had 87000 miles on it when i parked it. anyway to tell if they are bad? do they go bad often? should i definitely replace them? thanks in advance

here's my .02. they don't go often but to put in the bushings you will have the front apart any ways. mine started to go at about 90,000. it depends in how well they were greased over thier life time. i say replace them now along with any other front steering/suspension pieces. that way you only need to get it aligned once.

Do them when you have the the car apart is the best advice in my opinion.
To check them, raise the front wheels a few inches and put a large pry bar or something like that under the tyre.
Then lever the tyre up and down to check play in the joint. When you're doing the right front, sometimes the idler will kick up making it look the suspension is shot but that is normal.
Any high milage part like that though - just change it and be done with it.

alright i guess i will replace them anyway. i was just trying to save a few bucks since my motor is no where near done and i need a tranny so .... i guess its new and i have to pay to have them pressed in and out. the control arm bushings only took me 20min to get out. i was surprised it was so easy.
