Installing Comp. Engineering Bolt On SFC's

As the subject says I'm going to be installing Competition Engineering's Bolt On SFC's tomorrow, but I have a quick question.

The directions say to jack the car up in the air and to rest it onto four jack stands by the frame, and let the rear hang down - but supported by a jack.

Does this make any sense to anyone? I always thought that to put on subframes, you'd want the car to sit in the position that it normally drives in, ie jack it up and support it by the wheels or axle.

I guess I'll still follow the instructions because that's exactly what they are .... instructions, but does anyone have any thoughts about this?

thanks,

KZad

yeah, jack the car up and support it by the rear axle so when you unbolt the trailing arms, the rear dont fall out you also need to support the rear of the body itself. i used stands on the body and a 3 1/2 ton floor jack for the rear under the diff. i dont see why you would want the car at its ride hight because your just popping in some extra frame...its not like installing new arms or nothing like that. you really gonna bolt those in or you gonna weld em when you get the chance?

[Do you like em and how much are they]

Yes I like them. I went through a whole ordeal trying to get them. First I bought CE weld in SFC's for 115. Exchanged them (minus 20% restocking fee) and paid an extra 75 for the bolt on's. So figure I paid 160-170 for them.

[notice much of a difference?]

Yes, a very noticable difference. The car is stiffer all around, and I really noticed it yesterday when I went (Diagnal) over a speed bump. Very nice improvement, almost like the whole driver's side lifted with the front wheel. Hard to explain.

Its hard for me to attribute what gains were from what, because while installing the subframes, I also put on Spohn's wonderbar, and LCA's.

Hope that helps.

(I put more pics up yesterday. Mostly pre-installation pics to compare to the finished job.)

HamSpiced -

You will notice a world of difference doing both the SFC's and the Strut Tower Brace. I've had a strut tower brace on my car for about a year now, and notice a big difference when I put it on.

TKD-

The CE Weld_On SFC's you need to modify your floor pan. For the bolt on's you need only drill about a dozen 13/32" holes to mount the frames up. these holes are drilled both through the floor pan running along the door sil, and also into the frame itself. Not a big deal at all.

I don't know anything about the Jegsters.

youll notice the subs right away when you punch it. the car launches better and corners better at high speeds. the brace makes the car corner better too. couldnt really notice either of the 2 unless i was going 40+ but the launch youll notice right off. it basicly comes down to better highway driving
