tools or pliers?

tools or pliers?
to replace rear break shoes, a dude told me 2 use plers besides the spring remover and the other break tool. 4 1, ive never changed shoes before. its probably easy but looks confusing. can some one tell the best rout of doing this?

The special brake tools will make it easier but you can get away with a screwdriver in a pinch.
Make sure when you pull off the springs and shoesyou keep them organized so everything goes back exactly where it should go. Make sure you lube the backing plate so you dont get any squeeks. Dont hit the brakes after youve pulled the shoes off or you may blowout a seal on the cylinder. You can also peel back the seal on the cylinder and look for signs of leakage underneeth.

buy the correct tools for the job, it'll make it easier and safer to do. 20 years ago i worked with a guy the put brakes on a pontiac and used needle nose to reinstall the return springs. he broke the end off the spring and ended up with piece of it in his eye. didn't do any long term damage.

if your unsure of how to do it its not that hard to do just take off both back wheels and drums and only do one side at a time so you have the other side for reference
