Which Shocks for improved traction?
Which Shocks for improved traction?
I have a difficult time getting good traction. My setup consists of;
Sphoon LCA
Sphoon panhard rod
Sphoon weld in subframe connectors.
Sphoon LCA relocation brackets
Bridgestone RE750 tires, pretty sticky for daily driver.
I have the stock shocks on the car and I think upgrading them may help me get some more traction. I have a D1SC running 12psi boost, AFR heads....yada yada yada, its plenty fast. Launching is difficult, like driving on ICE! When my Z shifts from 1st to second, I can spin the tires as long as I keep my foot down. I need traction
Which rear shocks should I go with? I've been considering the KYB gas-adjust however, I don't want to skimp too much. Yet, at the same time, I don't want to kill my bank account. I figure 2x the price, the blistens seem to have a better rep. But I want to know what shock should I use to get better traction with my setup?
I eventually plan on putting a 9inch in with some MT slicks

go with blown shocks.. cheap and very effective.. you get maximum weight transfer, like running with no shocks.. you could probably get them for free at a junkyard.. my machinist has a 10 second 3rd gen camaro and it has stock springs with blown shocks.. pulls the wheels on 28x10's.. and do you have a torque arm? you list everything but a torque arm.. just wondering..

i hate to point out the obvious but...
buy some REAL tires.
there is only kind of REAL tire that will hook on the track with a blown car**
and that is a slick... either ET Streets or ET drags.
otherwise, dont bother going to the track.
on the street, you'll have to pedal it no matter what tire you run.. but you want atleast some drag radials on the rear.
i know this has nothing to do with shocks... but your #1 problem at the moment, has nothign to do with shocks.
if you want to drag race it, id put some 90/10s on it, remove the front swaybar, and see where its at like that..
otherwise.... learn to pedal the car out.... and realize that you're leaving around a second of ET on the table.
(**unless you're a chassis expert who can run a 10.5 drag radial class)

I understand that I need slicks, but until I save enough cash for my 9inch, I will keep the street tires on for now. I don't want to put drag radials or slicks on my car now because there is no doubt I will bust my current 10botl
I do want some sort of shock that will help my street tires hook up, my best et with my Bridegstone's is 11.58 0-60 was 1.89. Not too bad for street tires, but i know when I put my 9 inch in, I hope to get consistant 1.4's. My average 0-60 with street's is 2.0 average.
