Brake Proportioing Valve
Hi All,
I believe I am experiencing problems with my proportioning valve. My Bird has develepoed a wicked pull to the left to the point where it yaws. Thinking it was a caliper issue, i replaced both only to find the right caliper is not clamping.
I am assuming the valve is the problem because it splits the left front and right front. The fluid did not appear to be contaminated with any moisture and it appears to have aluminium break lines.
Can the valve be repaired? Has anyone else experienced anything like this? I went throug the same thing on my 87. However, I traded it in after replacing the calipers (the problem was not as severe.)
Thanks for your help.

I think your problem may be the rubber lines that connect the steel lines to the caliper itself. This is a common problem and easy to fix. Try out the Braided Stainless lines from Russell or Earls and see if that corrects your problem.

Agreed, Cowboy.. the old rubber lines deteriorate internally, and clog. A clogged line delays pressure to a caliper (yanks to one side), and then delays the release of pressure (yanks to the other side).
