Tires

I'm really in need of some new rear tires on my car. Right now I have 215/65/15s in the back.

I found some 255/60/15s on tirerack.com (Dunlop GT Qualifiers) for 58 bucks a tire.

Is this a good deal? And will these fit ok on the back?

They should fit. 245/60R15's fit on my camaro with a little bit of clearance. Keep in mind the 255's are taller and will effectively reduce your gear ratio(can acually making your car slower). 3.08's would become 'like' 2.93's with the taller tires. Speedometer will be off.

Would the 60 be too much then? Maybe 255/50/15?

I just bought new tires today, Futura Ultra Z's. They are 245/50/16's. They fit really good.

If you have the stock 15x7's on it, the 255/50's will have a distorted sidewall--I wouldn't do it. You may have a more difficult time finding 255/50R15's. If you are looking for more traction, a good brand tire with a moderate width(235/60R15) will give you better traction than a cheap wide tire(255/60R15).
Don't get me wrong though, 255/60's will work, just be aware of the other effects changing the tire size has. I used 245/60R15 BFG radial T/A's with my 15x7 88' Iroc wheels. They looked good and rubbed a little bit on the front when I turned all the way(never hurt the tires). It is dropped 1.5 inches. The BFG's weren't the greatest when they got heated up, but worked OK and lasted a long time. If you click other links on my web-site, there is a pic with the old tires and wheels.

i run bfg's euro t/a 245/50/15 all the way around. they rub a little in the front in certain situations and are a little pricy at @115-120 a tire but i am pleased with them

Get the BFG Euro T/A's. 245/50/15's They are the best 15" street tire made for handling. They are H rated and have a 50 psi max pressure rating. I speak of experience. I worked at a tire store for a year trust me.
