a word to the wise
Please everybody check yourself before you wreck yourself. Yesterday the first drive of the season my drivers side balljoint decided it didn't want to connect my wheel to the control arm anymore and let go. Absolute disaster. Check your suspensions and brakes before you start cruising this year or this could hapen to you and tuere will be nobody to blame but yourself.

Damn. Factory worn out ball joint? How bad's the damage? Did this happen on the road?
I've seen a customer's Mazda SUV do this in the parking lot at work and a Vanderburgh County Indiana Sheriff had this happen on his Crown Vic at a gas station, both in the past few months. Check and lube your front end, and check brakes and tires every time you change your oil. They're the only things keeping you on the road.
