Just put mine in today along with new AGX's... and the thing sits like a lifted truck in the front. I removed the isolators and used heater hose too! Hope it settles...

You know I've read about 'settling' many times, but frankly, my moogs never changed a millimeter that I could measure/see. Several months after the swap, I finally cut them.

My factory Moog Springs still have skyjacker ride height status.

This is with the iron LT1 heads, so weight is pretty much the same as L98. I now have the AFR 195's on there and its taller up front still. Enough so that I've got some positive camber.

I just installed a set of these and my car is sitting fine. Slightly lower in the front than the back. I've got an aluminum headed, carb'd small block.

Looking at your info, that car doesn't still have the V6 does it?

My other question would be are you sure the spring seated in the upper pocket? Having installed a couple of sets of springs now, I know that can happen depending on how you go about the install.

I'd say this is the main issue. The springs aren't going to compress as much with ~250 lbs less weight in the front.

As much yes, but damn... I have 5" of gap now!

Guess I'll pull em and cut em down a bit. Hate doing that to new springs but can't afford coilovers yet!

ALuminum head V8's LS1's fiberglass hoods, etc etc.... the V8 cars are still heavier then the little 60*V6 cars. Like stated, this package is about 250lbs lighter over the nose on the car. You have to cut the V8 performance springs to get them to sit correctly in a V6 car.

This is proof once again that even an LS motor is still far heavier then a 60*V6- Ive been telling this for years. It is why the V6 cars can be made to handle on an autox course like a jetfighter.

Made another phone call. Was told Vogtlands are in fact progressive rate springs. Yes, the first few coils are there to hold the springs in, and don't sound like they provide much force (dead coils), just height. But the working part of the spring is progressive.

This is where Founders chimed in earlier, so I would think I was told accurate info.

What founders wrote doesn't read as progressive, its dual rate.

Plus, you can see it if you look at the picture I posted, the unloaded distance between coils is equal, then changes to another distance. Its two rates in one spring, but its not progressive.

Maybe I don't understand what progressive is. My definition would be as the spring compresses, its force goes up. It would have a force curve that went higher as the spring compresses. My guess is where the dual nomenclature comes in is when the car is up in the air, wheels hanging free. The "dead" coils have their own "non-working" rates. But in the end, when you are driving the car, is what matters. As founders states, the "working rate" starts at some value and progresses higher until bump stops are hit.

The founders front springs aren't progressive at all, the coil's per inch is even on sides. You can see the clear separation in spring rates.

Basically the softer side is so soft that when the car is on the ground its full compressed all the time.

That might be true of the lower rate of the Vogtlands was strong enough to support the car, its not. It collapses fully and becomes static, having zero effect in controlling the cars weight.

The low rate portion of the spring is designed to collapse fully once the weight of the vehicle is on it. It does not do any work unless you lift the car to the point that it can uncompress. Even then, the struts don't allow that full travel.

So while yes the spring is technically dual rate, one of the rates is entirely ineffective at the installed height.

When installed they function as a single rate spring.

They are very heavy and we only give the option to ship USPS to Canada. We can ship them using FedEx with a cheaper initial shipping cost but then they slam you with customs fees and it ends up being more expensive.

OK old thread, but I cannot seem to find the answer. I have an '87 Iroc-Z and looking into lowering just the front.
I read that a lot of people are liking and disliking the Vogtland set 959212.

But: wil this lower the Iroc-Z that is already stock lower than the other Z28's and Birds?

Yes it will. I actually just removed my vogtland lowering springs and am interested in selling them. They look good and work fine, I just wanted adjust-ability so I went with weight jacks.
