Extra bolts around strut tower brace

I saw this Camaro on Hemmings today.

And I noticed these extra fasteners in the strut tower, near the strut tower brace?

Does anyone know, or want to guess, what those would be for? An additional brace or reinforcement under the strut tower to support the loads imparted by the brace during track use?

Re: Extra bolts around strut tower brace

They look to be the same size and type of bolts used on the STB itself. I would surmise that they are attached to a bracket underneath the strut tower inside the wheel well. I also noticed that the bracket for the STB doesn't sit flush with the strut tower. There is a bit of overhang. Why go to all that trouble and still use the stock strut tower mounts?

On a side note, why would you move a radiator overflow bottle closer to the engine and exhaust heat? The alternator doesn't look like it is correct either. There's a lot of "custom" stuff going on under that hood that would scare me away from that car.

Yeah, it looks to me like there are washers stacked under the STB on the driver side. Possibly OK for the street (who knows...I might have to shim mine in some manner when the time comes), but if you are stressing that bar enough to need a reinforcement under the tower, then yes, a flush fit would be optimal.

Re: Extra bolts around strut tower brace

Could be as simple as the owner changing strut braces as they modded the engine. The bolts could just be plugging holes that match up to a STB they used to run before the Super Ram.

Hehe it's been awhile size I've seen someone use the speed density Corvette intake boot. Seems like popular opinion around here has been the Camaro TPI aircleaner is just SOOOOooo much better than the firebird because I read that somewhere and it must be true... Or the "high flow lid" fad... Almost like people forgot the Corvette boot was an option.

Looks like Edelbrock headers with custom downpipes... Must date back a ways.
