need some help on what to buy for 91 firebird?
i have a 91 firebird ttops you know the usual and of course tbi on the motor. well my motor was clanging so hard it sound like a diesel. so i went and found a 350 tbi out of a 94 silverado for $650 bucks with 84000 on the motor. dont have a lot of $ to spend but would like to get new heads a bigger cam and(already got headers) and this car has a t-5 5speed w/ 3.08 gears.i see you guys always having talk about the 4 injectors and why its hard to do.i watched a guy take a 86' dodge daytona turbo Z and built this little motor up with 400 hp. this thing runs 11.6's but also runs 4 53 lb injectors but to acheive 28lb boost with turbo(if i understood him right.) he then added 2 30lb ijectors in front of the throttle body . now them what ever inpedance is it possible to run 2 low and 2 high imp inj. i just want to figure out the best before i start doing anything cause looks like ill need a chip burned after upgrading everything. would like yuor opinion on what to buy> thanks hope to hear from you soon.
you really don't need to worry about adding injectors for a long time. you can get tons of power out of the existing 2 injector set up.
if you are looking for more power on a budget the only thing you may have to skip until you have more money are heads. heads are very expensive compared to any other part for a running engine. if you want to do the heads you coudl just go big and get about 400hp from the motor.
my suggestion would be to get a set of vortec heads and have the spring seats machined and bigger springs installed. then find a LT4 hot cam or zz4 cam and a set of 1.6 rocker arms. a performer rpm air gap or torker intake with an adaptor plate and a holley 670cfm tb with 350 injectors will do the trick.
once you have a custom chip burned for it you can expect to see 400+hp at the crank pretty easily.
you could pu tall this together and in the engien for under $2500 and have a real great performing engine that is reliable.
