You need a open elemnet air filter, a simple cap for the vacuum line (but you can put a screw in the hose to make it simple). And you have to drill out the new filter base to put the temperature sensor in it. Some people leave it sit out, or put resistors in it but i think its safer, and most efficent installing it in the new base.

If you get a drop base air cleaner, you have to keep the spacer ring for it to clear the cables and ignition coil. I bought a non-drop base from summit and that allowed me to remove the spacer ring and ignition coil. I like it better. It ran me more than you should pay because I was dumb and wanted the K&N logo on the lid, but most stores sell a drop base for 20-30 bucks. The ones I always see is that spectra or sparca brand.

one of the moderators (snflufigus) of this board put together a page on how to install the air cleaner.

heres a pic of the non drop base on my car.

OHH, you will also need a new PCV (crankcase filter), which is another 2-3 dollars. Its the best beginners mod anyone can do.

Mr. Gasket 14" flat base aircleaner ($16.95 at Advance Auto) + Purolator 14" x 3" filter ($5.00) = best SOTP difference ever for 15 minutes of working on your car. Plain and simple.
