Are you talking about the sensor in the driver side head? That would be the coolant temp. sending unit for the TEMP GAUGE. Not the CTS for the ECM (which is located on the front of the intake manifold).

Depends on what year the car is.
On my 92 RS:
1) the driver's side head has the Temp Sensor for the Gauge
2) The O2 Sensor's in the Y-Pipe on the Driver's Side
3) The Knock Sensor's on the Passenger Side of the Block
4) The Fan Temp Switch is on the Passenger Side Head
5) The coolant temp sensor (for the computer) is on the intake manifold.
6) The Oil Pressure Sensor (for the gauge and computer) is on the Driver's side of the block above the oil filter.

Exactly. Now, is it THAT difficult to understand what the sensor in question is??? I've answered it twice, and now Rich has answered it. If anyone else attempts to refute these statements, please leave your home address so I can personally beat the hell out of you.

You are totally correct. It is the coolant temp gauge. Unhook it for crying out and see what your temp gauge does.
