Code 44

I have a 91 Rs and i want to know a little more about code 44 and what u guys have done to fault trace it I read the artical about the code and am leaning twards checking the voltage replacing the tps if that is the culprate for the low voltage , how low does the voltage have to be to throw the code? my check engine light is intermitant and only comes on at a stop light in drive everyone in a while any ideas guys?

oh ya forgot i have an idle problem once in a while coming to a stop were the rpms will dip and the car will die but mostly just dip and this is not during the time the check engne light comes on.

Have you checked your battery or alternator? If you or the other is going bad it will cause funny things to happen to your engine.

I would think that a 44 would be the same on a '91 that it is on an '89. Been having that problem myself, lately.

That would be a lean o2 sensor.

While it might be a bad o2 sensor, I would doubt it. Mine was a fuel supply problem.....and it only showing up at idle for you would make me think the same in your case.

Check fuel pressure...possible bad pump(or soon to be), bad regulator or clogged injectors.

Mine was clogged injectors in a TBI car.

The code is basically telling you that the fuel supply is being interupted, leaving you with a lean engine that doesn't run well because of it.
