air pump delete..

anyone know how to get rid of the air pump? my headers have the connection for it.. do I just plug that part and get rid of everything else? I tried unplugging the connector on the air vavle one time while the vehicle was running and it stalled.

I just got really anoyed taking my heads off and having all this air crap bolted to the rear of the heads.

The new to tbi sticky up top has links on how to do it. I used brass pipe caps to plug the AIR fittings on the headers.

so basically I can get rid of it all. I just leave the connector unplugged and plug the vac line.. then put a cap on the connector on each header?

Yep, that's what I did. I took off the whole pump and pulley too. You have to use a slightly different belt routing then and I think the belt size was 96.8"

yeah the belt thing is not a problem for me. I can buy the shorter belt. the air pump stuff was on some trucks & not others so it had both options.. even the diagram for belt routing under the hood shows how to route with & without air.

I'm wondering since the headers are off right now if I should grind the nipples sticking in to the exhaust. I thought I read something a while back about grinding them so they are flush. the other thing I read before was the connector for the divert valve could be used to power a heated o2 sensor.

for some reason I remember a few years ago when the engine was running I unplugged the connector on the divert valve and the truck stalled. ecu does not monitor that in any way though?
