Id just use a regular OEM replacement head gasket. Itll seal better then any sort of shim type.

Might be worthwhile selling the 083s and getting a set of 305 heads. A set of 081's or a set of 305 S/R torkers would work better then trying to use a shim type head gasket to get the CR up.

I respectfully disagree but it's only my opinion that you ignore the compression ratio and go for quench. The thiner the head gasket the better the quench in a normal street built engine that has the piston "in the hole". I've always had better succuess with the metal shim gaskets when the engine block and heads had been decked by a reputable shop. If not then the oem will cover more imperfections. The compression ratio should have been thought out before hand and for that reason you might want to look at different heads. Maybe some stock vortec heads if you're building up just a healthy tire roaster.

Thats what I was eluding to. With an old set of heads and block the possiblity of leaks becomes an issue. Thinner head gaskets may be good but if they dont seal then not much else matters.
