TBI Stud

Ok well I got the raised base K&N air cleaner and the stud to screw down the top is not long enough. It does not even go through the top. Anybody have any clue what size stud I need to finish this?

Also The punch out does not really punch out. It is like 12 little holes in the shape of a circle. Does this mean I have to drill it out?

had the same exact problem, and thought I needed a new stud....but I didn't

Just unscrew the stud until it fits over the air cleaner thing. Dont take it all out, make sure it still screwed in.

Well I unscrewed it and all the way unscrewed, it barely fits on there. If I have one thread in, the wingnut will will go like a half turn on. It is too small I guess, where can I get the bent-like studs at that are longer?

My auto parts store didnt have the bent studs like our TBIs have. You can always try and check but my success was zero.

Just screw it in one or two threads in, then cap it with the STOCK wing nut. Don't use the crappy Edelbrock one. The stock Wing nut is far superior to that one and it holds the cover and the general housing in place very well...

Try it out....

yeah I am using the stock one. This is on a K&N open element and housing as well.

i had the same prob also and i went to a hardware store and got a piece of threaded rod and bent it(easily) to the same shape of the original using it as a template and just leaving the top longer to accomidate the taller air cleaner..as long as you do a smoothe cut with a hacksaw or a dremel tool it will thread right in and be just as strong...i dont remember the thread size but it has held up and that may be an option for you...hope this helps man...
