So I got some vortec heads layin around..
and I am wondering what will it take to put them on my truck? What springs should use to rebuild them? Pushrods? Rockers? What will I have to change emissions wise? I know I need a vortec manifold and adapter plate. Will the stock cam work ok? Computer? Tuning?
Basically, I'm looking for a "how-to" or "FAQ" for putting these heads on a 87-95 350 TBI engine!

I guess I'm the first one to put vortec heads on a TBI motor??
Just wanting to know if all I need to make it work is a vortec manifold and TBI adaptor plate? And if the stock programing can handle it.

The rockers (if the old ones are matched to the ***** and in good shape), the pushrods, and valve covers can be re-used. The vortec heads will require a different intake manifold. I personally would look into the GMPP piece, but a cheaper carb intake with TBI-Carb adapter would work as well.
The engine will probably not even run on the stock chip. If it does, it will bog lean the instant you step on the gas.
Even if you did swap them on, don't expect more than 10-20 FWHP, you would probably lose HP if you don't tune!

Cool, so the major problem will be tuning. I guess I'll be keeping my eye out for a cheap laptop. Thanks, fast355!
