changing to a 350, need advice
the original 305 TBI died in my formula, so i found a rebuilt GM 350 REAL cheap. I guess i need to know what all i need to change in the car to make this work. Can iu just move everything over from the old motor and this car will run, or do i need to get a cam, intake, tbi unit, ect. i know i need a custom chip, and i am alsogoing to add headers, but not sure on the best one for this application. Has anyone made this change over with good results? I was thinking of getting the edlebrock intake and cam and using the holley TBI unit, does that sound like a good choice? Will i need an adjustable feul pressure regulator? Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Hey man, welcome to the board!
The new motor should drop straight into your car. I just did this swap a little while ago on my 89. The only things that you really can't use, is the chip and the injectors. Since your going to change over to a different carb and a different chip, it doesn't really matter too much. You don't need the adjustable fuel pressure regulator, but it probably wouldn't hurt.
A couple other things that I would say to watch out for, is your cam selection. If your cam is too big, your idle will be thrown off all of the time, unless you get a chip CUSTOM made for you. I used the chip out of a chevy caprice cop car, and that works but my idle is still off. Other people will say that you need to check you MAP sensor, and change over all of your other sensors to correct everything, but I've found that a lot of the stuff will bolt directly up.
I guess what I'm saying is that everything should bolt up and run, but if you were to leave everything stock, you should change the chip and the injectors... everything else will just be fine tuning...
good luck,
