Headers or Rear end

What would be a better improvment headers or gears. I have 3.08 right now and I have a hooker cat back. I want headers cuz they'll clean up my engine compartment, but my rear axle seals leaking right now. So what would you guys do?

I would go with 3.73 posi before headers. It's been proven that your car will run lean with stock eprom, headers, and open element when your not in closed loop. SO if you go with headers, think about a custom eprom OR bump up the fuel pressure slightly.

Definitly agree with these guys. I put 3.42 in my 5 speed and man, it really woke it up and made if fun to drive.I think the 3.73 are too much for the relaivily low reving LO3 but thats my opinion. The gears along with the ultimate/open element air filter were the best mods I made to my 305 . Remember you will have to change the drive and driven gears on your speedo if you want to correct for the new gears. ON a t-5 its a real PITA. There is a thread in the archives on which color gears to use so check it out............bob

Rear end. Cause on my car I put a new Rear end off an IROC. Has 3.27w/posi. And it improved my time by .5-.6! Before I had a 2.73w/o posi.

Definantly gears. 2.56-3.73 dropped me about a second. Exhuast and did it about another second. TBI and manifold and tuning got me another second.
