blown TBI
blown TBI
ok im really thinking of getting a supercharger next summer.i was thinking of nitrous, but i dont want to risk my motor like that, and i besides nitours doesnt look as cool!anyways i was wondering if there is anyone here that is runing a supercharger on their TBI,and if so what brand, model are you using, and how much fabbing did you have to do to get it to fit and work right.and i dont mean a roots type,i want a centrifugal type.i know this will probably get moved to the power adder board, but i wanted to see first how many TBI guys would respond, since i know most of the guys on that board are running TPI.thanks.

This question has been asked a few times before. Try running a search on roots superchargers.
Holley makes a low-profile blower, made for a single throttle body, on trucks. I'm pretty sure it'll work with ours, though.
144 size.

I think someone makes a centifugal SC for TBI, I forget which company. If you want a roots talk to Shanebuss, he used to have one on his TBI.

Shane B had a roots blower which is better for TBI. A centrifugal type is thought to cause fuel atomization problems(aka puddling) with TBI. Call Vortec for details though. Maybe its perfectly fine. But remember they do want to sell you a $3000 centrifugal blower instead of a $1200 roots blower

I saw your post, and I thought you were paging me, LOL.
Anyway, I bought a Paxton 3 years ago for $2450. When I call Summit to order it, they said that they no longer stock them, and for me to call Paxton directly. So I did, and they told me that they no longer stock the kit because of lack of intrest, but if I wanted one they could put a kit together for me. So that's what I had them do.
Now over the years I've told this to many people, and they've tried to do the same thing as me, but as far as I know Paxton wouldn't do it anymore.
But if you were to buy thier truck kit, it could easily be made to work with your car. The on;y difference seems to be where the air intake comes from. If you look at the pictures section on my website http://pages.prodigy.net/phoenix138/ you can see the tubing coming up from the fender behind the drivers side headlight. Other than that it's basically the same.
Good luck on getting what you want.

About a year ago I was on the phone with either ATI or Vortech, and they said they don't sell a kit for a TBI F-body as a part number, but they can sell the truck TBI kit with a "carb bell" and different tubing to fit over our TBIs flange and still be under the hood. Just something for you to check in to.

I agree with 89blwnrs. Go with ATI or Vortec. Paxtons are junk. I had one 5 years ago and for the 4 years I owned it locked the blower unit up 3 times. The 4th one I never even put the belt on. I just sold it off. Look in the supercharger section of this site there is good info in there.
