Where do the bolts and studs go ???

The intake manifold, I know some are studs (for certain brackets) some are bolts, I took it all apart almost 2 months ago and now I forgot what goes where. Got the factory manual, however for some reason it's one of the GM sketches that doesn't make sence at all.

Description i.e. driver side front to back .. passenger side front to back... most helpful, pictures would be even MORE helpful.

Do some of the brackets go underneath actual bolts not studs ?

Actually, is it even necessary to put all brackets back on ? Last time I did this I don't even think I put the bracket "clamping" the fuel lines back on. What I'm saying is, can I leave the brackets out, and just bolt the manifold back down with just bolts ?

If I remember right, there are only two studs. One goes on the 2nd hole right side front for the harness bracket. The other goes in the 3rd hole on the left side for the vacuum line to the booster.
The bolts for the engine lift bracket, on the right rear go on top of the bracket (bolting the brkt. down).

OK I see, so basically I CAN get away with not using any studs what so ever, and even not use the brackets, correct ? For a "cleaner" look that is.

Re: Where do the bolts and studs go ???

OK I see it now, the bracket with the vaccum line and connectors (for the dizzy right ?) has to be on, does that one use bolts or studs ?

Also, the bolt hole next to no.3 runner, it goes all the way into the manifold, right through, what bolts on right there ?

Last time I did this I just had to change the gasket, this time I pulled the engine and had to transfer parts right and left from one engine to the other, that's WHY I now have these questions, it's all apart.

Re: Where do the bolts and studs go ???

On my L05 the drivers side front most bolt is a stud for the alternator support bar and 4th one back on the drivers side from the front is a stud that, on my engine is not used for anything.

Re: Where do the bolts and studs go ???

Alright, thanks.

Does anyone by any chance have any pictures ? Now that I'm more awake, I remembered that I need to hook up the bracket that holds the throttle cable assembly etc. So if anyone has pics of left and right side of the manifold installed, I would appreciate if you could post them.

I found this pic, but not sure how accurate it really is

Re: Where do the bolts and studs go ???

Here is how my L05 caprices are set up

useless stud circled in red

Throttle bracket is bolted to the rear most intake bolt and that bolt that it shares with the coil

AC brace uses a studded bolt but its not an intake bolt

Re: Where do the bolts and studs go ???

So the only thing I really have to be concerned about, i.e. only thing that NEEDS to go with the intake manifold, is the throttle bracket.

Yea, but the back lifting bracket has spot where the EGR solinoid mounts to it with a tiny little bolt. I dont guess it would hurt anything if it wasnt mounted there. It would be best to keep it from flopping around somehow though, to keep from breaking one of the vacuum lines.

OK, hmmm I now have a bolt hole on the driver side, in the middle, and it goes right into the intake manifold, right through, what the heck goes right there ?

Bought a set of new intake bolts, well had to use some of my old ones instead, due to the fact that the threads are a little bit worn out but mostly because these new bolts are SHORTER !!
