Okay,

I'm a 1st Gen guy 67, 68 Firebird guy by nature, I just picked up an 87 gta. Always love the third gen's, and I'm all grins and giggles. (spoiled, air, tilt, power everything, the seats in these things come on!!) Now, the car came without a cat, and no AIR Pump. I want to get this thing to run 13
's. I have taken the liberty wire up the fans so the engine runs cooler about 185-190. I've disconnected the coolant flow to the TBI. I will be installing a set of headers soon. I understand the computer(chip) really runs this thing. What else do I need to do to accomplish this goal of breaking in to the 13's? A chip? If so suggestions? What else do I need to learn about these cars, suggestions, books articles' to read? School me I'm all ears.

if your useing it for drag i would suggests a tork converter.even a lower geared rear end that would help with shifting faster. checkout your glove box codes to see what the gear ratio is.you want a 2.7 or something lower

 

Yea this should be in the TPI section. I doubt you have TBI.
