pop through tbi

Ok, new issue since putting in zz4 cam. i am thinking that it is a lean pop through the tbi but im not sure and wanted to get some opinions. I have 350 injectors and a ported throttle body with a tpi fuel pump. right now my fuel pressure is at 14 psi. if i snap the throttle open it occasionally pops through the tbi with flames. i have not done prom tuning yet and realize i need to do it, but in the meantime can i get the car to run without the flames at wot without tuning? could it be a rich condition?

Typical cause is going lean on the AE. Secondary cause is not enough spark advance. Basically, it is as you mention, it needs to be tuned.

You can try advancing the distributor 2 - 4 degrees. There is a good possibility that will help. Once you start tuning be sure to set the ECM calibration's Initial SA to what the distributor base setting is.

RBob.

Re: pop through tbi

Thanx RBob, i advanced timing a few degrees and it seemed to behave muchbetter, no popping. I decided to play around with the fuel pressure to see what would happen and when i dropped it down to the 11-12 psi it stumbled and popped through the tbi as it did before , so i put it back up to 15 psi and it was 100 times better no pop or anything. The biggest issue i have now is its running rich, which needs to be corrected through tuning.
