No Idle...?

OK....I'm not too good with these "newfangled" things! Till I picked up that 4 banger 'Bird for my stepdaughter I had never messed with TBI. Now my sons' got this one he can't make run......thinks I know something about it. Hate to tell him, no I don't....but I know some people who do!

'89 305 Formula Firebird. We got fuel up to the injectors(thanks, guys...it was the battery connection)now we have another problem.

There is no "primer" squirt, no fuel at idle. The only way to get fuel in the TBI is to "pat" the accelerator after priming the TBI to get it started.

Local guy says its' probably the throttle position sensor. Does that sound like it, or are there other things I need to look for?

Is there absolutely NO fuel at the injectors when at idle? Are the injectors tapping like they're trying to spit out fuel? When did you last replace your fuel filter? The TPS sensor shouldn't stop the car from idle but it might not be a bad idea to check the voltage and make sure it's around .5-.6v. Try playing with the idle screw if you are getting fuel.

No fuel at idle, and none if you don't "pat" the accellerator.

I don't know much about the car except that it was running good when parked approxamately one year ago.

I would check the fuel filter. Something prolly got all gummed up.

Then I would pour some fuel stabilizer in the tank and try to salvage what is left of the gas, which prolly went bad during the Clinton administration
