Hi All,

I posted in the motor swap but wanted to ask the same question here just to make sure I get enough replies to help me make the right decision.

Can i put a 1984 305 HO carb motor in place of an LO3?

Swapping over all the needed parts from my LO3 will the computer run this engine or is the cam too different to run without tuning.

I don't have the means or budget to tune. I have the HO motor just sitting in my garage. I really hate to scrap my vehicle and craigslist this spare motor.

is there a cheap cam i could put in, that would make this work? I remember there being a Summit cam i think that folks used to post about but i can't find the threads.

I would run it with the stock cam. You might need to get a hatachi style duel bolt pattern starter.
Most cars are 153 tooth flexplate and trucks are 168.

Looks like the van starter uses a staggered bolt pattern.

can i swap the flexplate from the other motor? or are they diffent bolt patterns/balancing?
