Gm Oil Supplement
Gm Oil Supplement
I bought a bottle of this from the dealer to add to my rebuilt engine for break-in. After 15-20 min. of operation I had to drain the oil to fix a oil leak. The question is do I reuse the oil/supplement or replace with fresh oil / filter? Has the oil supplement already done its job and there is no further benefit from using it?
Not sure exactly what to do so need your expert opinion. Thanks

Any kind of oil supplement is not usually advised by most on these boards. There's no reason too, just let the oil do it's job. I would definately not reuse it, why is there an oil leak?

If you're talking the Gm break in supplement. It's suppose to help break in a flat tappet cam and minimize the risk of having a new cam go flat. Usually the cam is fully broken in after 20 to 30 minutes, so I would say you're safe to go without it now. Also I've never used any kind of supplement for breakin, besides the normal cam and bearing prelube, and have never had a flat cam. The Gm supplement is more an insurance type thing.
