Head gasket

How hard is it to replace the head gaskets? I am aware of what has to be done (I think, basically pulling top half of engine apart), but is there anything i should watch out for? Also, what brand/type of head gasket would be recommended? Thank you!

Two questions: What engine? Why do the gaskets need to be replaced?

The difficulty is primarily dictated by induction type. Pictures taken before and during disassembly (do you have a digital camera?), good labeling while you go will make reassembly easier. Torque wrench a must, rocker caps nice for the valve adjustment process.

The reason for the leaking gasket can figure into what to look for when it's apart and what gasket to use. Stock is typically a steel shim, but the thicker composite gaskets can make up for more variation in surfaces - only downside is a slight drop in compression.
